Fashion Friday: Best Basic Tops and Tees

Basics are something that are pretty boring to buy but crucial to your wardrobe. I try to refresh mine once a year- fresh basic tees, tanks and classics that I wear all the time. A bunch of you asked what my faves were so here they are!

Basic Tee– A hip length tee that is washable and dryable and skims the body ( I can’t stand when tees have linen in them and then I accidentally throw them in the dryer and there goes $45…)

High Neck Tank– This tank is so expensive but it is SO GOOD. I spilled on mine and can’t get it out and I’m so sad because it’s the best thicker fabric with the perfect fit. They come back in stock usually after they sell out….

White Button Down– Such a staple- this one fits great- not too boxy, not too fitted.

Bodysuits- As someone with a long torso bodysuits are so hard to find- thus far I have been impressed with Abercrombie & Fitch’s tank and tee versions. Thick, relatively long enough and well priced.

Cropped Tee– Not like, teenager cropped, like “top of the hip, slightly boxy but not TOO boxy” cropped. I have 4 of these.

Striped Tee– I have about 15 striped 3/4 sleeve tees and these are pone of my favorites! Affordable, great colors, and well made. I also love Sezane’s version.

Chambray Shirt- I consider this a staple- it dresses down trousers or a skirt, tie it up with some colorful shorts, wear it over a bathing suit to the beach…. a must. This one is INSANELY soft and lightweight and has the best drape.

Dressy Tee– I just bought two colors- the high neck and ruched body made this sexy but also still work appropriate. Not cropped, but not too long either.

Support Tank– My secret to wearing high waisted pants and skirts without having to tuck a top in is wearing this support tank from Athleta. I works so well and does not have “sporty” details so it looks just like a cotton tank but no bra needed.

Basic Tank– For years my go to has been the Gap Modern tank. Size down for a slim fit.

Detail Tee– I have two colors of this tee- the folds in the sleeve make it look cool, and the fit is amazing.

Invisible Camisole– Great for layering under crochet or open knit sweaters or sheet tops

Statement Tees- Make your feelings known- my favorite is this Lingua Franca gun control tee and this Kule Abortion Rights tee.
