Fashion Friday (on Wednesday): Professional Denim

The way we work has been so immensely affected by the pandemic – so many of us now working from home, remote half the time, and certainly with an air of more casualness than before. That translates to how we dress too. Being in a creative field, I’ve never had to abide by any strict dress code other than looking how I want to represent my business and brand. But I think even in some other industries (certainly not all) the dress codes have become a little more lax, with “casual Fridays” blending into maybe Wednesdays and Thursdays as well.

I wear denim to work 99% of the time. As long as it’s not ripped, too slouchy or unprofessional looking, jeans can be dressed up to be the perfect “casual but not trying too hard” combination. Also a win for maybe parents nights at your kids school or meeting friends for dinner.

Cardigan /(runs big, in an XS) / tank (similar) // jeans (runs a smidge large, in a size 24) // bag // sunglasses (similar) // shoes (similar) // necklace (similar)

I saw this Veronica Beard cardigan that has total Chanel jacket vibes and as soon as I spotted it, knew it would be great for work. Paired here with some wider leg denim (not too wide, just wide enough) and a pair of classic heels and bag (I have had this one for 8 years!) this look could take me from a presentation to dinner. I also would love it with caramel colored faux leather pants!

I love the texture of this sweater jacket

Here are four other combinations I would wear in a heartbeat, all pulled from Saks Fifth Avenue’s wide selection of options. Lots of blazers, cardigans and TONS of amazing denim. Click images for links!
