When designing a room that needs lots of case goods (bedrooms, family rooms) we always try to keep pieces from feeling matchy but also not have 3-4 different wood finishes happening. Our not so secret weapon? Grasscloth and raffia wrapped furniture. It’s a great way to add clean lines, texture and break up having too much wood in a room. Look for pieces with lacquer coating to prevent staining or made from vinyl grasscloth. Here are some faves, along with some smaller accent pieces too!

I found a two-drawer chinoiserie nightstand, similar to the Burke Decor example above, at a church rummage sale for $50. The grasscloth was stained on top, so I always place a black lacquer tray there to mask the spot. Reviewing these prices, I realize what a score I made. You’ve just made my day. Cheers!
I love grasscloth. Any advice or suggestions for a piece after my adorable Australian shepherd took a few nips of the grasscloth on a corner when he was a puppy? I somehow would love to add or glue on a patch? Not sure if you knew of any resources….Thanks a bunch. Happy Holidays.
