I have a scheduled post for Friday that is not fashion related, so today I’m doing a quick but hopefully useful fashion post – my favorite bras! Now, I will preface this by saying I prefer unlined bras with good support, especially in the summer. I prefer breathable fabrics and a little lift. But I still want to be comfortable. So these won’t be for everyone – but I swear I’ve tried every bra ever made, and these are ones I have multiples of because I really, truly like them the best!
Gap has always been good to me in the bra department. I have about 4 of these lace plunge bras– supportive, pretty and durable- and just ordered this t shirt style that is apparently the same support and cut, just smooth.
I recently have fallen in love with this Negative bra. It’s AWESOME. I also like this style too for real, breathable comfort (no underwire) but still some support.
This is a GEM of a bra– crazy good support, almost push up, but NO padding. It looks like you’ve had a boob job/ lift. I have three. Comes in really small band sizes too, which is great for people like me who are a 30/32 D.
This style is also great.
I hate, hate, hate strapless bras. Who doesn’t? But these two Lively ones (top // bottom) actually stay up. I wore one ALL day the other day and forgot it was on (i.e. didn’t need to keep tugging it up)
Another vote for Natori!
I would LOVE to wear unlined bras all the time – at a D cup, there’s plenty-o-boob without padding TYVM. But, headlights. : (
Thank you so, so much for this post! I, too, swear by unlined, underwire bras and have about 10 of the gap plunge bras myself. Cannot wait to try these others—I don’t know why it’s so hard to find good, pretty, unlined bras??( Lined bras have taken over!!) For hanging around the house, I do love cotton fruit of the loom underwire bras (sold on Amazon by the 2-pack and super cheap!!) when I’m just hanging around the house. Very plain but super comfortable, esp for D cup or bigger.
This is continuing from my previous comment : Natori Bra … I buy the Pure Luxe T Shirt Bra.
I love Natori as well!
Thanks Erin!
Hi Erin, thank you for the recommendations, especially for the strapless ones. I am a D as well and have yet to find a bra that stays up. Have you worn both and do you have a preference for one over the other?
If you want to try another bra with beautiful coverage and good for us older ladies ( after menopause) try the Natori brand I first purchased at the Nordstrom sale that is in July or is it August?! They are usually on sale at that time. Worth the money and that’s all I wear now.
Thank you for this lovely post !!
Oops! Found it…
Fancy but Fabulous link is not connecting to correct bra?
Yes it is, comes in a ton of colors.
Thank you for sharing! I am long overdue for some new ones. This was very helpful!
I’m a 42C and have a heck of a time finding a bra that fits.
I can’t find a link for the bra above fancy but fabulous
It is linked!! I’m so confused why everyone is having trouble with this one? It comes in multiple colors- the link may go to another color….
I think she means the picture above the “Fancy but fabulous” heading, which looks like the negative underwire bra.
Thank you for this post!! I was just ready to start bra shopping and these are great ideas.
I have sworn by Gap bras for decades, BUT , they no longer make white!
I literally spent half of yesterday looking at the new bra co’s out there (after an article in the WSJ). And just ordered 2 from negative to try out!! Thanks for for the review!!
Great to see these options.
Even though I have a bigger chest, the pandemic has mostly allowed me to say goodbye to underwire. Highly recommend the True&Co. bras – super comfortable and supportive but no underwire.
Can you see your nips through your shirts when wearing the Negative bra?
I have 10 negative bras (they’re incredible, even for this difficult-to-shop-for size 32G) – I wouldn’t wear them with super sheer/thin white shirts but most of my regular white shirts (and any other color) look just fine. It’s such a fantastic combination of totally comfortable and totally sexy (for the first time in my life, I wear a matching set every day) – I’m hooked!
Could you share the correct link for the “fancy but fabulous” option please? It links to the lace balconette. Thanks!
That’s the right link.
