Love at First Sight…

Tuesday, June 28th, 2011

The second I saw this adorable Maryland cottage in Southern Living I fell in love. I am determined to live in a cottage someday, hopefully just like this one!! As I stress over our current living situation (very complicated, but if anyone has a condo for sale or rent in the south end, hit a sister up) I am so drawn the the peace and coziness of a home like this.

Adore this pink scheme in the living room and the clever use of wallpaper in the built in glass doors to hide clutter.

More little touches to conceal the clutter children bring (I’d have added some contrast trim though…just sayin’)

Dramatic wall color= favesies.

IKEA + marble= a high/low mix that makes the final result look all high end!

Another example- IKEA table, vintage chairs found for a steal and reupholstered in high end outdoor fabric!

Off yo NYC for an exciting client meeting! Catch ya on the flip flop.

Loft Lust

Wednesday, March 2nd, 2011

As I scour the internet for real estate listings for a new home I came across this amazeballs loft that I would love to live in. It’s slightly out of our price range  and the we’d have to add a second bedroom at some point AND in a neighborhood I’m still not sure of…but just LOOK at the amazing woodwork!!! And a claw foot tub AND walk in marble shower? And that slate island??? Christ almighty! This really is like porn for me.

Domino? More Like Yahtzee!

I’ve been enamored of Sara Ruffin Costello for a while now- she of Domino creative director fame and this living room- probably the room most associated with her former employer:

Apparently I am ridiculously clueless because I had no idea her husband was my FAVORITE interiors/lifestyle photographer Paul Costello. As if the living room + clever husband wasn’t enough to conjure some lifestyle lust, I then find out their West Village home in on the market- the one with the kitchen that is featured in the Domino book…… for $13 million bucks! Whaaaaaaaaaaat?!?! I still find it baffling and amazing when couples in their mid-thirties own homes with price tags like that. I did the mortgage calculator on that sale price just to amuse myself- and even if you could scrounge up the $2.5 million down payment- your monthly mortgage payment would be about $60,000. Am I the only one whose mind is blown by that number?

Anywhoo- here is the home. My question is…if you lived here, why would you EVER want to leave?
