We’ve been doing a lot of kids rooms and nurseries lately (most of them e-design, actually- it works so well for this type of room) and I have found myself sourcing more and more from Etsy for unique and custom offerings. I absolutely LOVE finding completely off the radar items for any space in the home, including nurseries and kid spaces. From antiques to custom bedding, you can really source some incredible stuff with a little legwork. Or I can share some favorites and make it a little easier for you… :)

Pottery Barn Kids has been KILLING IT lately- and the most recent catalog I got was no exception. It makes me so excited to do a big boy room for Henry some day (or a little girls room- although right now while deep in the 4 month sleep regression stage I wonder why ANYONE has a second kid). I digress- this stuff is so good, and a lot of it could easily be used in room for people of any age!
Especially lovely is the Monique Lhuillier Collection– like this incredible canopy bed. It’s such girly perfection!!!
DYING over this elephant dresser!!!

I am not in “the family way” yet, so don’t go reading into this- I simply saw this Ovo high chair and yelled aloud “OHMYGOD! That is the best children’s design I have ever seen!!!!!!!” I mean, look at this thing, it’s freakin’ GENIUS. No longer an eyesore in your dining room or kitchen, this high chair would actually UPGRADE most interiors. No joke. I am head over heels. And of course, as expected, it has the price tag to match- and of course is only available on European sites for a painful 349 euros (about $477 for us). But given how much you use this thing and it’s flexibility (it transforms into a toddler chair) I think it’s worth the investment. Not to jinx myself, but I am almost tempted to buy it and stash it for whenever Baby Gates decides to come our way. Is that creepy?
Buy the white and deep navy chairs on this site. Also available with faux leather harness straps for a little more money.
If that’s the packaging this thing comes in then it’s even better. It’s not even fair to American high chairs.
Children’s room decor need not be cartoonish and juvenile- a great example of this design rule are these amazing prints by Leo Little Lion on Etsy! How fabulous are they? I love the wallpaper-like quality the patterns have and the font for the names! Such a fantastic gift for someone who has just had a baby or to decorate the walls of your own nursery!
Look at these adorable little rugs for kids by my friend and studio-mate Jennifer Hill and FizFelts! I think they are amazing for a playroom and even in a kids bathroom in front of the sink!
I found out about the Animal Print Shop by Sharon Montrose from my pal Kyle Knight of Knight Moves blog and I simply HAD to share since everyone I know currently is having/has had a baby except for maybe one person. And he doesn’t have a uterus. I won’t even get into the fact that I bought one of the DVF for Gap Kids wrap dresses just in case I some day have a baby and it’s a girl. I’ll save that one for my shrink.
But you know how I feel about animals, never mind BABY animals. Did anyone watch Frozen Planet on Sunday? I nearly lapsed into a coma from those polar bear cubs! I can imagine nothing cuter in a nursery than these modern photographic prints either in a series or one over-scale one! But you can also be a full size, able to feed yourself adult and sport one in a room too!
A few close ups to make you go “awwwwwww”
Good for adult spaces (how does nature create such a gorgeous pink that flamingos get to sport?)
