I Want to Go to There: Hotel Thoumieux

Monday, February 20th, 2012

Hotels offer you the experience of spending time in a style perhaps not akin to how you would like your home to look.  An escape, perhaps, but also a way to appreciate looks and certain aspects of design that maybe you never would have considered before.  And before you say “enough with Paris Erin!” I just want to say that I can think of no other city that inspires me more.  I’m sure once I am able to travel to more destinations I will come up with some, but for now it remains Paris.

The Hotel Thoumieux will be a place to consider staying next go-round (of which I hope there are many).  A bit wacky, yet charming and fun, I am so delighted by the details in this boutique hotel ( a Thierry Costes property designed by India Mahdavi ) Prints over prints, modern meets ornate…. it’s super fun, no?

I Want To Go To There: Public Chicago

Wednesday, February 15th, 2012

Man, I love me a good hotel.  Good design, well thought out details and friendly staff make me delighted beyond measure. Enter Public Chicago!  I love the look of this space and will certainly hope to stay here sometime soon since my bestie is moving to the Windy City (NOOOOOOOOO!!!!)  I’ve heard great things about the restaurant as well so it’s a win/win! Modern yet clearly respectful of the tradition of the architecture, it’s a moody, glam and interesting space…

And I LOVE this concept of their Public Express meals- 5 pre-packaged, delicious meals that won’t take 45 minutes to get to your room and have some ridiculous “service charge” attached to it! OR grab one to go on your way to the airport!

Jamaican Me Crazy

Wednesday, January 18th, 2012

While I am delighted to be gallivanting off to Paris on Thursday, I am a wee bit craving some vitamin D courtesy of the sun and not just from my Whole Foods supplements. When I saw the images of Emily’s trip to Jamaica’s Goldeneye I let out an audible groan of pleasure.  I simple adore the laid back vibe this place has- not to mention the crystal blue waters and breezy rooms.  Owned by famed music producer Chris Blackwell, this little piece of heaven used to be owned by Ian Flemming- of James Bond fame. Makes it just that much cooler….or is that hotter?

(p.s. love the batik trimmed towels and bedding by Royal Hut)
