Also happening that day is a yoga for runners workshop with OmGal Rebecca Pacheco!

Save the Date Final

Also, I’m hoping you will save the date for a FABULOUS event I am very lucky to be a part of.  The Room to Dream Foundation’s spring gala event, Carnival of Dreams, is featuring four dream rooms designed by Boston designers for chronically ill children- including one designed by me (I have a great idea for the scheme too)!  It’s an amazing cause and sure to be an ridiculously fun event so please check out the website to learn more!

ALIBI

Ultimate Closet Raid!

Tuesday, January 5th, 2010

Heads up, ladies-this is a once in a lifetime event for you design mavens residing in Beantown! This weekend Boldfacers is hosting one of the coolest events I’ve heard of in ages- a “consignment” pop-up store sale of items from the closets of some the city’s most stylish women!  I have seen many of these fashionistas out and about and I can vouch that there will be KILLER stuff available. If only I wasn’t out of  town this weekend I’d be the first in line! It’s economical, green and best of all, incredibly fun. Go forth and gather good stuff, my dears, and be sure to tell me everything.

Join me next Thursday, November 19th from 6-8 at LunaBoston on Newbury Street for an evening of shopping and beauty! Yummy drinks, handbags, shoes and mini-makeovers courtesy of Fresh cosmetics! Who could ask for more? Space is limited so be sure to send your RSVP to events@lunaboston.com soon- and mention E of S when you do!

Some awesome items available at Luna that get my big, fat stamp of approval:

Lauren Merkin clutches- you know I love mine and use it non-stop so I advise you invest in one for yourself (buttery leather, fun colors, perfect snap close system and cute seersucker-y lining-an all around winner)

Rebecca Minkoff has some GORGEOUS bags (with the cutest birdie lining). Twilight star Ashley Greene’s been spotted with one (this is relevant because the night of this event is the midnight showing if New Moon which I’m going to, so you know I’ll be in a GREAT mood!)

And of course, my favorite designer Diane Von Furstenberg knocks it outta the park with this beauty- a forever classic.

Hope you can join me! Have a great weekend everyone!

Studio of Geniuses!

Monday, November 2nd, 2009

On Friday I had the pleasure of going to visit Jill Rosenwald’s studio in Fort Point (she of the “new West Elm-ish rug” fame from a few weeks ago). Her work is as cheerful and lovely as she is, which is so refreshing! Just check out the amazing designs abound (and check it here on Etsy):

Lamps from her line Switch (crafted with her husband):

Lamp bases awaiting electrifying!

The studio- love the wall of pottery paint chips. Art in itself.

I got to see the rug in person and it’s to die for. I absolutely love it!

I absolutely fell in LOVE with the chair drawings Jill did and had mounted on her studio wall- genius!

More of her beautiful pottery (with tour guide Oscar):

More lamps in progress and a set of custom designed dinnerware that she is working on with an interior designer based on the colors and patterns in a client’s home:

Also in the same studio are graphic designers Jessica Sutton (mom of Oscar above and blogger herself) and Jennifer Hill. Jessica designed websites for some of my favorite places like Looc, Urban Hound and was previously the in house designer for beauty brand Fresh Cosmetics! Jennifer has a FABULOUS Etsy store featuring her prints, especially enchanting is her “Places I’ve Never Been” series in which she designs a pattern based on research she does on, you guessed it, places she’s never been! I think the concept is stunningly creative and the product equally as beautiful! Also check out her letter prints, perfect for a baby gift!

(There is even a calendar featuring a series of the “places” prints!)

Check this Facebook invite for more details and let them know if you’ll grace us with your gorgeous faces (or leave a comment and I’ll RSVP for you!)

Hope to see you there! It’s a great chance ot celebrate creative, cool women in Boston and see some fantastic design!

Party Down

Monday, August 3rd, 2009

While I still have a few more days until I am officially 30, Friday night we had a party that celebrated my next decade of life. The pink and orange theme made for a festive, warm look that I think came out really lovely. I went to the flower market and grabbed bunches of single variety flowers in the colors I chose and used various vases I had collected over the years wrapped in print wrapping paper from Paper Source and wide hot pink ribbon (a really easy and cheap way to dress up a basic vase!)

The lanterns I had purchased were supposed to be hung outside on the patio in the trees but alas, mother nature was temperamental that night and it rained (which lead me to almost start my own chorus of “it’s my party, and I’ll cry if I want to…) But with some ribbon, a helpful pal and hubby and a little creative thinking- we found a way to use them!

More flowers, and FAB votives from Luna Bazaar in ikat and bamboo trellis!

In the kitchen I used paper flowers from Luna Bazaar over the bar table and of course, had to but fun paper goods in matching schemes (love, LOVE the zebra napkins)

Wait, what is that on her cake, you ask? Amazingly enough, it’s the zipper front Jimmy Choo shoe that I blogged about a month or two ago! And hilariously enough I had chosen to wear my BCBG knock offs of that exact shoe that night! Karen at Babycakes made the cake for me, and now I KNOW she’s a true blog fan! What attention to detail!!!! I loved it! (And yes, my nickname, thanks to Andrew, is Frog. Long story…)

(guess I should have made time for pedicure)

Other signs people read your blog- when your presents arrive wrapped in the party theme colors! :)

Andrew gave a WONDERFUL toast that both made me laugh and cry…

I think everyone had a great time (I know I did, I was still recovering even yesterday)

You know I had to bust out some 30’s bling with a age appropriate tiara (with the lovely Audra of Looc and longtime friend Elyse)

I wore a fantastically comfortable Rebecca Taylor dress that I love (did not take a pic of the ensemble, but this shows the most of it…) The dress even has pockets (which every girl can appreciate) and will look cute belted with a cardigan come fall!

I don’t think I ever showed you my new West Elm rug…adds a graphic element to the living room…and the patio where the party was SUPPOSED to be (damn you New England weather)

My boys were SO well behaved.

But at one point Oliver needed a time out and was caught by a guest hiding amongst some pillows…they think it was because I emasculated him with a pink ribbon collar. :)

Tonight I celebrate AGAIN with Andrew at the Coldplay concert (third time this year, I think I may have a problem) and then again on my REAL birthday later this week. Thanks to Andrew and everyone who has already made this a great birthday! What a lucky gal….
