Ebay Find Inspired Room

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

Yesterday I had a little bit of an Ebay Breakdown- I realized a few hours too late that I missed the end of an auction for a perfect antique Persian rug I’d been watching for days.  My dogs didn’t seem to understand my despair.  So back on eBay I hopped and found these babies. I am in love. The antique gilt frames with the slightly off kilter, somewhat country chic linen stripe upholstery. I want them, so don’t you dare bid on them :)

It got me wondering Just how I’d use them in a room, so created a monochromatic but dramatic black and cream dining room to show you how chairs in this style can be made modern.  I paired them with a fabulous glossy table from Noir Furniture, a gold chandelier from Circa Lighting, silk drapes with black embroidered border from DrapeStyle, an antique Persian rug from Landry & Arcari, a Bungalow 5 grass cloth and brass nail head buffet topped with gold lamps from Pieces and those BANANAS zebra hide retro-modern stools found on 1st Dibs. you could easily add an accent color to this room (kelly green or canary yellow would be spectacular) in drapes or the rug!

I seriously want those stupid chairs. ARGH.

Ebay Finds

Ebay is truly an incredible source for affordable antiques.  I was turned off from it years ago when the “Gucci” bag I bid on arrived made of plastic and clearly a fake.  But I’ve had great success as far as furniture items go and went in search of some fabulous finds just for you!

I am obsessed with the incredible hardware on this credenza! And it’s a great price too!

This lucite bar cart would be fabulous in any little corner of the house

I love the rogal style of this pair of x-bottom chairs- and for only $200 each it’s an easy way to add a little antique style to your home.

A pair of faux bamboo side tables are made more glam with white marble tops- just paint the legs any glossy color for an instant update.

This set of dining chairs has such a unique back- I’d paint them glossy black or white and upholster the seats in a modern fabric.

These chairs are a STEAL at $299 for the pair- again, a simple refinish job and they become treasures!

These mirrors are NOT cheap, but they are magnificent and so unusual! I adore them!

These carved marble horse head bookends would add a really fabulous look to any book shelf (especially one where the back is painted a dark color!)

This chippendale cabinet reminds me of Eddie Ross’ fabulous secretary makeover! Such potential with some paint and new hardware!

I have always loved these steel faux bamboo chairs- no refinishing needed, just some fun cushions!

This small scale buffet is perfect for a small dining room or apartment. Refinish in a glossy paint and you’re golden.

A very unique lucite chandelier- from far away it may look like a traditional empire style fixture, but up close you see it’s true material and detail! Way cool in my opinion!

And last but not least, these absolutely unbelievable chinese chippendale gothic dining chairs- the set of 8 will set you back over $4,000 but these are TRUE antiques and unlike anything I’ve ever seen. I would consider loosing a limb for them. Sweet lord.

Designer eBay Wishlists

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

I was really psyched to be included in this article for eBay’s new online magazine The Inside Source! Check out the items that many noteworthy designers from around the world are coveting on eBay (including me!)

Some other items I found on eBay I’d quite like to be mine as well:

This amazing curvy headboard I’d refinish and use in a project. It would be amazing in a small guest room that has a full size bed.

This bamboo dresser is fabulous as is- no need to redo it if you don’t want to.

So obsessed with these vintage sputnik-style lights right now. I am dying for one.

I would LOVE to redo these drop dead gorgeous faux bamboo chairs for a client’s breakfast room or small dining table (around a Saarinen tulip table? I DIE.)

Adore these stools, which I’d cover is a great bold print fabric (Chiang Mai Dragon, perhaps?) :)

These blanc de chine swag lamps would be beyond gorgeous hung in a powder room on either side of the mirror instead of sconces.

These platinum rimmed cocktail glasses have an air of “Mad Men” chic.  They’d also make a great gift paired with someone’s favorite bottle of spirits.

And if you feel so inclined go over to Apartment Therapy and nominate me for a Homie Award!!! :)
