I have never had my own front door, and to me there is nothing more “homey” than a front door. I dream all the time of how I would decorate my own entryway and so I thought I’d pull together some images and selections for a great, personalized front door!

I was asked the other day if sunburst mirrors were still “in”. I am of the school of thought that if something works and you LOVE it it’s always “in”! There are certain shapes, patterns and decor items that may be white hot at a certain time but that does not necessarily mean they are trendy and will be “out” later. Some classics are born that way (the sunburst mirror being one of them…ikat is another good example). One of the most prevalent modern patterns right now is Moroccan influences geometry. I think this pattern is now pretty classic and is something those with modern and traditional tastes enjoy. Here are some examples of great items available:

We just spec’d drapes made out of Kravet’s Windsor Smith Riad fabric and I am quite enamored with the look (FYI, this was paired with a very traditional Persian style rug and decor and it really made the room look fresh!)

I cannot WAIT for Jill Rosenwald’s new rugs to come out this month…especially this one!

The Interior Influence

I was perusing the Resort 2012 collection from Dsquared yesterday and noticed that a lot of the looks (which I LOVE) seem to be so strongly influenced by interiors! While I’ve long believed that interiors are influenced by fashion (see my series with Kelley Moore) a runway ensemble can also be influenced by a great room! When trying to pick colors for your home make your closet the first stop for inspiration- notice what colors repeat themselves and consider those for walls or pillows. If it’s a sea of black and grey, then consider a clean, monochromatic space. Decorating the way you dress is a way to make your home feel comfortable to you. Take a peek and my room pairings with the line and see what you think!
