Kerri Russell & ABC Home

Monday, May 23rd, 2011

I really loved the laid back approachability of Kerri Russell’s Brooklyn home as shown in the current Elle Decor.  Not only is the raw space amazing (are you SEEING that molding in the living room?) but also the fact that she mixed goods from high end showrooms (like those insane Ochre chandeliers I would murder for) with stuff hand made by her husband from wood reclaimed from barns and dumpsters! I’ve been saying for months that if I finally do buy my home, I am doing everything in white, black, grey and natural wood. A clean, crisp but relaxing scheme that will give me respite from my days spent with dizzying pattern and color.  This home is such an inspiration for me!

The images of her home (and the resource lists) reminded me of my trip to ABC Carpet and Home during Blogfest.  If I had a gun to my head and had to decide on one place to decorate my house right now I’d pick ABC (and then I’d ninja kick whomever was decor-assaulting me).  Seriously, ABC is my version of Mecca and if you haven’t gone you really, really must make a pilgrimage!

A snapped just a couple things while there…like this amazing venetian glass chandelier that was the lightest of blues (and $10k)

And this beyond fabulous John Derian bench with small back and this dining table I would sell my soul for…

A nice collection of cloche jars and stone accents…

Beakers and drawers…

Such an amazing color combo- navy, blush, taupe and cream. Inspired to design a room around this…

GOLD flatware, how I love thee….

How about these pink chairs up in Madeline Weinrib’s showroom? Uh-huh.

Here’s some of my favorite things shown on their website:

Loving: Jordana Brewster’s Home

Tuesday, May 17th, 2011

While on the train yesterday riding to NYC I was flipping through the newest InStyle and freaked over actress Jordana Brewster’s home in LA.  Maybe it’s the grey rain that is in store for us all week, or maybe it’s just because it’s just AWESOME, but the light colored, airy yumminess is SO appealing to me right now! It’s like a super girly, modern “Swiss Family Robinson in Los Angeles” kinda place!

The office/meditation loft (note: I need one of those) has such great light and that pink settee from Lawson-Fenning is the stuff of my dreams. No seriously, I think I had a dream that Andrew let me get a pink settee (never, ever gonna happen). And p.s. how cute is that dress?

I absolutely love the washed color of the wood- slightly pink almost!

Not a style of home I’d ever think I’d like, but in this location, I so dig it. Doesn’t it look relaxing?

Lots of white with a nice hint of turquoise is refreshing but super laid back.

That striped rug! That selection of seating! That uber deep sofa!

It’s hard to tell here, but those cabinets are high gloss grey. I LOVE that. LOVE. Clean, simple and super chic and classic.

Ok, I’m off to the Kips Bay Showhouse and lunch at Bergdorf’s (Kelly Wearstler designed) with fabulous bloggers (and real life friends) Kyle Knight, Kelley Moore, Shannon Wollack and Ashlina Kaposta among others!  It’s so fun to get to hang out with these blog friends in the flesh!

JA Pics a.k.a. So Mad I Forgot My Camera.

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

I don’t think I’ve dropped off film to be developed in a decade. It was hilarious waiting for my envelope of pictures from yesterday’s adventures to be ready to view. MAN, it’s amazing how CRAPPY they are! How did we ever do it?  They do not do my visit or the offices justice, but I figured I’d post some anyways….

Another “modeling” shot….

Loving the new JA Juniors line!

The showroom at headquarters. Kinds of my version of Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory.

More yumminess.

You can’t see it here, but these turquoise doors were amazing- studded all over! And this JA Juniors chair is scaled for a little girl and is to DIE for (not quite ready to be for sale yet, so stay tuned!)

The dish line!

And at the bar when we got home we met up with friends and I tried to finish up my roll so I could get them developed (another thing I haven’t done in forever).  Mixing cocktails with a trigger happy, high-on-life lady behind the lens means I opened the envelope tonight to lots of shots like this one:

Apparently even Andrew’s drinks are so cool they have to wear shades.
