Bedding: Bold or Serene?

When it comes to bedding I am historically unable to make a decision. It’s a fantastic application for prints, pattern and bold color (which I love) but it’s also a great place to keep things simple, crisp and serene. I absolutely love the lowered-blood-pressure-inducing ensemble of a white duvet with subtle embroidered frame border and a couple of great pillows- however- if you have dogs that sleep in bed with you (ahem!) things don’t stay crisp and clean for long. I’ve been through probably 5 white duvet covers in the last couple years for this reason and a certain someone in this house has said I am not allowed to “try one more time”…. or am I? :)

What’s your preference- bold bedding or simple clean whites?

I ask this question because I am trying to pick bedding for my bedroom. I have kind of fallen in love with this one by Dwell Studio (amazing agazinst my black wall) but am concerned about busyness. With the bench done in a light blue small pattern or even a solid velvet , tall gourd lamps and my fab white and black embroidered shams it could be amazing!

Faux Fur Love

I am in search of the perfect faux fur vest for fall/winter a la Rachel Zoe. She even has her own design for QVC that I might investigate seeing as it must be fabulous if she put her name on it I am pissed I missed out on b/c it’s now SOLD OUT. Grrrr.

However, while at my photo shoot yesterday at the Webster showroom at the BDC, there was this MAGNIFICENT faux fur throw that sent me into a bit of a giddy spell. It was perfection, and way out of my budget, but I insisted we find a place for it in a shot or two- despite the photographers obvious dislike of it. Hello, it’s me- pile on the faux fur and zebra!

Anyways, now I am obsessed with finding a gorgeous faux fur throw for my new “neutral” space I hope to create (remember, I’m on a neutral kick). Fur ads such a great texture to a room when combined with sleek metals, glass, linens, leathers and such. Just look at these spaces with (hopefully faux) fur throws… yummy, right? Especially the first one with my other obsession-black walls!

I am pretty sold on this one, but it’s also pretty darn pricey for something I may decide I “hate” in a year.

This one is a close second and more realistic since it’s so much cheaper!

I’ve been oogling her bright prints in magazines for a looooooong time and been frustrated that the only way to get them was at her NYC shop- but finallyRoberta Freymann’s line Roberta Roller Rabbit has an online shop and I am positively giddy over the offerings! From quilts to kurtas to tabletop accessories, I want to brighten my home with everything! Not to mention my new favorite “baby item for my non-existent baby“– the quilted baby blankets!!!! Oh my, they are amazing and a fantastic gift for a shower at $60 each!

Secret High Style Bedding Source on the Cheap!

When you see a Lands End catalog you probably think of the late 80’s /early 90’s- monogrammed backpacks, hiking boots, Adirondack chairs and the like. The words “chic” and “on trend” probably aren’t the first you go to…until now. A secret bedding source for me lately, they have put out some fantastic, affordable items that echo the works of Lulu DK and John Robshaw. Take a peek and I guarantee you’ll be surprised!

This pattern I LOVE and it reminds me a bit of Cole & Sons Cow Parsley:
