Henry’s First Birthday!

I decided to take a break from gift guide craziness (it’ll be back on Wednesday- Under $100) to reflect a little on a big event that happened last month as Henry turned ONE on November 13th!  I realized I had not blogged about this huge milestone and wanted to briefly wade into mommyland and talk a little bit about the big guy as he changes from a baby into a little boy. :)

Of course, we celebrated– with a party on his birthday with close friends and family at our house.  While I went overboard with the cake ( an otomi-inspired masterpiece from Oakleaf Cakes that basically was the price of a wedding cake) I kept things pretty low-key otherwise.  Some cute Etsy decorations and adorable party hat, seriously yummy food and drinks, but not all Pinterest-perfect and themed down to every last detail.

Fashion Friday: Where I Shop For Henry

Sorry this is late- Henry’s nanny is out sick so I’m a little behind! A lot of you have asked me on Instagram to do another post about where I shop for Henry– so here you go, a big roundup of where I shop again and again for the little man.  Shopping for girls is easy (my ovaries shudder every time I see something baby girl that is leopard) but boys are a little harder, so I hope this helps!

Gap and Old Navy constantly leave packages by my door not only because their stuff in on trend and well made for the price, but they are ALWAYS having a sale (like right now, 35% off everything).  They have total classics too, like the cable sweater below that I bought when it was on clearance last spring in every size- he’ll probably have one for every year until he goes to college).

Sleep. Glorious Sleep.

I describe what is going on in this picture below. I promise.

I hear the slightest hint of a growl and my heart stops in my chest.  I lie as  still as possible as if my rigid pose and held breath will allow me to escape confrontation.  The darkness magnifies every sound and then it happens.  My fears confirmed. A scream blasts out from the small device next to my bed.

Henry is awake. Again.

Fashion Friday: Dressing HEnry

To say I’m having fun dressing Henry would be a vast understatement. I can’t even imagine if I had had a girl- I’d be teetering on bankruptcy, no doubt. But there are still lots of fun clothes for tiny fellas (teeny tiny blazers make me weak in the knees).  A lot of people have asked on Instagram for my favorite places to shop for Henry and so here we go!  Like everything else,  I approach it with a high/low attitude.  The bulk of his clothes come from affordable sources and I spurge now and then on things that really make me squeal (after all, it took us so much to get this baby and so I tell myself it’s okay to spend $60 on a baby t-shirt if I want to, which I KNOW is ridiculous!!!)   It’s so easy to get carried away- case in point:

“That Henry, he’s so hot right now” said in my best Zoolander voice
