Prints Charming

Thursday, September 22nd, 2011

Sorry about the double post yesterday- I was having MAJOR technical issues. Please enter on either post for the Kokoon giveaway and they will count towards the prize!

In other news, I’ve been meaning to blog about this adorable line of soft goods from Bungalow I found in a little shop in Woodstock, Vermont (devastated by the hurricane, so send them your thoughts) called Noushka.  From Denmark, but printed in and inspired by India this company produces so many good things!  And trust me when I say, in person, the quality is fabulous and the pricing oh-so fair!

Bedding:

Pillows (my addiction):

Tablecloths:

Dishtowels:

Napkins:

Scarves & toiletry bags:

Storage boxes:

If you love anything give Noushka a call at (802) 457-4844 (no site yet) and ask them about ordering!  It’ll help support a town in which small businesses are suffering as well.

****And PLEASE be sure to cast your vote (for me, ideally) in the Grange contest! Help send me to Paris, I promise to take tons of blog worthy pictures of the goods at Maison & Objet!! (see a larger pic of my room  with sources in my post HERE)

To the Sea

Wednesday, August 31st, 2011

I have never found anything as calming as spending time on the ocean.  Staring out at the sea gives the same tranquil effect as the best prescription (in my, ahem, experienced opinion).  That’s why when I saw these large scale prints of photographer Mary Ellen Bartley’s work at Ruby Beets in Sag Harbor, NY I fell in love! They illustrate the crystal calm, tumultuous darkness and sparkling magic of the ocean in various seasons. A new goal in life is to own one of these gorgeous pieces!

This week we in the Northeast also saw how powerfully destructive water can be as many communities suffered flooding from Irene.  In particular, the area of Vermont my family owns a home in was sadly destroyed in many parts.  Please send your thoughts to those needing the courage and strength to rebuild.

Judging A Book By Its Cover…

Monday, August 29th, 2011

Well, after over 24 hours with no internet I feel like I’ve been the friggin’ MOON! It’s amazing how out of touch with the world you feel without constant Wi-Fi in your life! Sheesh!
Anywhoo, I know a lot of you are like me and are completely obsessed with bookcases- I typically tend to veer towards the built in variety, but a well curated stand alone can have me weak in the knees too. After color coding all the spines of my books for a photo-shoot years ago (drawing odd looks from the hubby) I realized that the actual books themselves really make such a difference. A stack of Jodi Piccoult paperbacks just doesn’t aesthetically please quite the same way as vintage fabric hardcovers with gold lettering, huh? Cue Juniper Books where not only will they source amazing books for your collection but also custom cover your tomes in whatever you can dream up! Just look at these amazing options!

Images created along a series of spines…. GENIUS.

Wrapped in print and faux leathers….

Clean and classic with fabulous fonts….

Vintage inspired and bold colors…

Various fabric inspired prints….

Or fabric itself!

I LOVE the colors shown here- varying papers and inks that all coordinate together!

Ombre shades of pink…

Or simulated vellum covers….

And look at some of the installations they’ve done! It makes you want to curl up with a good novel (I’m reading Unbroken right now and LOVE it), doesn’t it?
