Studio mate and potter Jill Rosenwald just showed me these concepts for her new collection (piping hot outta the kiln, how cool is that?) I absolutely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them, but offered to get your feedback before she whips up a formal collection for the NY Gift Show in August! What do you think?

I really believe that dogs are the greatest thing on earth. I love my little furry fellas more than life itself, perhaps a bit too much. I can be having the absolute worst day possible and then one of them will lay their little head on my lap, or in Baxter’s case actually give me a full on hug, and my stress is immediately diminished. If I could I’d keep adding new ones to our family collective, but I fear that might make me the “crazy dog lady”. Having experienced the joy of rescuing a dog (little Oliver was found on Petfinder- his name was Gates for crying out loud, it was destiny), I have a bleeding heart for them. Especially when that damn ASPCA ad comes on with the super sad Sarah McLachlan music and I have to run screaming from the room while covering my eyes or else I burst into full on ugly sobs. And I’m no crier!

Being this much of a dog lover means I love buying my dogs cool stuff. I stop at dressing them in clothes (Halloween being the only exception), but cute dog beds, collars, toys and the like typically find their way into my house on a regular basis. So when I got wind of this new dog line Blueblood Living and saw their amazing blend of home decor fabrics with doggie goods I was on cloud nine! The Greek Key collars and leads? You know how much I love Greek Key anything, so Baxter is now rocking the black and white version which nicely compliments his coloring. :) And the dog beds with Thomas Paul fabrics? I saw the work of pattern designer Abigail Borg on my friend Julie’s blog a couple of weeks ago and I’ve had her site bookmarked since then and keep coming back to her unique, bold, colorful patterns. Am thinking a couple of her pillows might have to come live with me.

Current Obsession: Vintage Suitcases

When I saw this picture in the new Lonny Magazine (amazing, by the way) it solidified one thing for me…

Why the HELL did I not buy the stack of gorgeous vintage suitcases I saw the other weekend at the SoWa Open Market??? ARRRGGGHHH! I was all “I dunno, they seem expensive at $65 a piece. Should I? Should I?” and then stood there for like twenty minutes doing the “I want to buy them buy my bank account will not like it one bit” dance. I finally told myself I could probably find more/better/cheaper ones at Brimfield in July when I go. But we all know that’s a load of hooey- Brimfield is shockingly expensive.

Beyond my insane non-buyer’s remorse, I have been obsessed with stacks of vintage suitcases for a while, but of course more so now that I don’t have any. Just look at these beauties! As side tables, hallway decor or even stacked on top of other furniture pieces they add such a fantastic vintage feel to any space!

Adorable other uses for vintage suitcases- as pet beds and storage for crafting supplies!

How about this bad boy lined with my fave Chenonceau print from F. Schumacher? Wouldn’t that make packing more fun?

I don’t think I’ve dropped off film to be developed in a decade. It was hilarious waiting for my envelope of pictures from yesterday’s adventures to be ready to view. MAN, it’s amazing how CRAPPY they are! How did we ever do it? They do not do my visit or the offices justice, but I figured I’d post some anyways….

Bali Beauties: Katherine Rally Textiles

I won’t lie- I LOVE Facebook. On of the many reasons for that is that I have become introduced to fabulous, interesting people all the time that I never would have met otherwise. I also become privy to cool products and companies that probably would have gone undiscovered by me for months had they not contacted me. One of those is Katherine Rally Textiles, a company founded by husband and wife team Katherine and Rally Dupps. And their story is just as intriguing as their beautiful batik fabrics and pillows. The architect and interior designer met in 2002 and decided that the best way to test their compatibility would be to take a backpacking trek through South East Asia together. Having come out the other side of that adventure in love (instead of ready to strangle each other as many lesser couples would have) they decided that 6 weeks in India was a more appropriate symbol of their commitment than a diamond ring. Naturally their travels have continued, including relocating their family to the blissful island of Bali when the American economy took a nosedive (hello Eat, Pray, Love!). They started their textile company to celebrate their love of travel and design and as I imagine, are loving their new life!

I adore the prints and colors and the way they layer together so beautifully! You can purchase pillows for $95 for an 18″ square pillow cover or $105 for a 24″ pillow cover- you can also buy the fabric by the yard!

I’m not gonna lie, I’m a girl who likes her cocktails. A glass of wine, a chilly martini, a feisty margarita- all a lovely way to end a day if you ask me. I’m still in search of an (affordable) vintage bar cart for my office so come quittin’ time I can round up the fabulous ladies in the studio and toast to another day completed. This morning I felt inspired by vintage style bar accessories- because having a little proper bar in your home is a fabulous way to decorate an unused corner! I’ve started setting up one in my own home using the vintage buffet I got at an estate sale.

Obsessed with this vintage bar on Ebay. $.99 right now. Hellllllooooo lovah! Paint it black, white or a great color, pop this cute poster above it in a great frame and top with a tray of vintage decanters or glasses (like these mercury rimmed ones) and you are in business Mad Men style!

I can’t get over how fantastic this set is! It looks like Jonathan Adler, but it’s vintage….

This silver plate cocktail shaker from the 30’s would be beautiful sitting on top of a bar cart like this one from 1st Dibs!

This cart from C. Bell is freakin’ awesome- it’s top it with a tray of blue french opaline glasses (set of 35 for sale on eBay- trying to resist bidding since I collect them due to lack of storage!)

A folding tray works well as a small bar as well- loving this one from WAH and would love to see it with an awesome print Iomoi ice bucket!

These animal print trays with ring detail would be great for stashing cocktail napkins and wine stoppers! Love!
