Happy new year! Woof, we made it. In 2022, I plan to focus more on the things that make me happy, like my 2.5 year old’s adorable new room, where we spend a lot of time sitting “criss-cross-applesauce” on the floor, reading books and goofing around. This cheerful little room has made quite the transformation in the 4 months since we moved in, and I wanted to share our progress with you all.
As you may have seen on Erin’s instagram, the “before” is a lot of look. This room belonged to a teenage boy previously, and I’m fairly certain his parents let him pick his paint colors when he was little :)
Before we moved in, we stained the floors throughout the house. In this room, we installed a light fixture in the ceiling (the light by the door was the only light in the room before) and added crown moulding to play up the painted trim.
Kit’s crib, dresser, art, glider and side table came with us from her old room (see that room here), and then I added in a new bookcase, mirror, floor lamp, window treatments, and – of course – wallpaper!
rugs: jute / similar vintage oushak | similar dresser (I scored mine at Ramble Market, but there are also a ton of inexpensive ones on Facebook Marketplace if you’re willing to look… the ladies on our office group text have stopped responding to all of my finds, but I will not be deterred) | mirror | bookcase | similar glider | side table| roman shades (in “Caribbean Straw”)| scalloped drapes | abstract art by big brother Rhys, titled “It’s a Bridge!” :) | similar antique etchings (picked mine up at Brimfield, but the Etsy one is only $59 and already framed! hurry!) | flushmount | floor lamp (to be honest, the shade that comes with this lamp is hideous. I used some leftover fabric I had to cover it, but if this is for yourself or someone else who isn’t 2.5, try Cruel Mountain) | paint color: Benjamin Moore Blue Heather | wallpaper: Erin Gates x A Street Prints “Kit” in Blue Heather :)
Hope this room brought you a little happy today and that we can all find some happiness and gratitude in this current hellscape. To borrow from my favorite Real Housewives podcast, Bitch Sesh, “up, up, up!”
Can I ask for the source of the brass curtain rods. Thank you.
To also quote the best podcast of Our Times, I am taking this on. <3
Ooh I love that bobbin bookcase! And we have a very similar dresser, it’s just a grandparent hand-me-down from northern England, but I absolutely love the design
The “Before” is positively eye-watering. [insert nausea emoji].
The “After” is gorgeous.
Love your style (both interiors and writing)!
Beautiful! Love your writing style too.
charming! I expect Peter Pan to fly in the window any second.
