Fashion Friday: Looking Forward to Fall!
I know some of you will lament my excitement about fall, but while I’m not wishing summer away, I’m also SO EXCITED for fall clothes. Okay, everything fall. it’s my favorite season by miles. I am seeing a lot of fall clothing come online and already noticing trends popping up– the biggest being crocodile textured shoes and bags, straight leg jeans, tons of animal print of all kinds and looser, cozier silhouettes. And I. AM. HERE. FOR. IT.
I also noticed a palette forming and looked back at the fall 2019 runways and sure enough, there it was. There will be SO much burnt umber, camel, deep reds, navy, pale blues and even peachy tones (particularly mixed with the umber, reds and navy). This is a great combination because you can make your more summer pastel tones fall appropriate by mixing them with the richer tones.
Here are some amazing finds for fall you can pick up now. Of note:
*I bought the snakeskin pants from J.Crew and they are an AWESOME fit. Great with a tee and sandals now or sweater and loafers later!
*If you haven’t tried a Dudley Stephens fleece yet, nows the time to buy them as they just restocked and come fall will be hard to get.
*Get a bodysuit for layering in the fall (I love wearing one under belted sweaters and cardfigans)- but also amazing with skirts now while it’s warm.
*The Frame Le High Straight jean is such a personal favorite (top right).

So many great finds here that I never would’ve found on my own! Like that Boden jacket, or that Anthro has that cute Claire V clutch!! And I just ordered my 6th Dudley Stephens because I just know the park slope in tan will sell out and “need” it for fall! Thanks for such an inspiring board!

I always enjoy your Fashion Friday! I just bought the Frame jeans in a lighter color from the Nordstroms sale. Because I am 5’4 I had them shortened to look more ankle length. I think it’s a nice fresh look for Fall !! I also love brown and haven’t been able to find it in years !! Hence I’ve held onto anything brown I have !! Believe it or not I used to do the same with charcoal gray !!! I have a gray jcrew blazer that must be 25 years old !!! It still gets compliments !!!

Yes to all of it!! I actually ordered my third Dudley Stevens fleece on Monday, so I laughed about the restock. Get em fast! Another fall item on my radar is a good pair of leather or snakeskin mules. They pair well with cropped or straight jeans in the fall and bridge the gap between sandals and shoes while the weather is still warm. I’m eyeing a pair from Soludos and a pair from M.Gemi. Maybe both!! 😉

Can I just say that pants that hit the shin like floods are really not flattering? I think a lot of people are embracing it because it is “in style” but not because it looks good…..I’m 6 foot and I won’t be caught dead in them. For people shorter than I…..I don’t get why anyone would put those on? I feel like fashion is really letting women down these days by creating trends that are terribly unflattering. I am sticking to my classic French program to guide me, aside from all the other things you posted Erin! I love everything else! Animal prints forever!!!!!!
You make me want to go dig through my closet and see what works for fall. The colors look so yummy! I’m on the hunt for brown long sleeve tops and sweaters. They’ve been off the market for several years. I’m looking mid market not high end. Any readers with suggestions?
I’m a Fall gal all the way. Love the J. Crew snakeskin pants. Just put them in my cart. Now trying to talk myself into buying them even though they’re not on sale.
Like you, I LOVE the fall – the weather, the fragrances/aromas, the clothes, the decorating, the florals, the books, the magazines, the makeup – everything. I’m really excited about the colours you’ve talked about. I already have several pieces from last year in those colours, so I can just add to them from this fall’s selections. I really, really want a pair of crocodile textured shoes, but my feet are wide, so nice shoes are hard to find in my size. Maybe I’ll just have to settle for a crocodile textured purse!
I’m seeing straight leg pants all over the internet this year. Are skinnies out? They pair so well with tall boots come winter that I would hate to put them aside.
Not OUT, never. Especially with boots and jeans. But straight is such a classic, great cut too– we’ll be seeing LOTS of it.
Noted! I bought two pairs of straight leg jeans last weekend. They take some getting used to after wearing skinnies but I think they are flattering to more body types.
