Summer time (especially this upcoming holiday weekend) means tons of time outside, and now that I am a mom I have become that crazy lady chasing her kid around with sunscreen every 15 minutes to reapply for fear he will become burned. And as a woman who is about to turn 40, I can tell you I wish I had worn more sunscreen on a daily basis in my 20’s! Oh, how those sun spots and wrinkles are coming to haunt me now!
But I am also extra vigilant about sunscreen because when I was a baby, my father was diagnosed with malignant melanoma. Luckily, they caught it and he survived. But it does run in my family so I am pretty careful to get a skin cancer check every year (GO NOW IF YOU HAVEN’T!) and apply sunscreen when I know I’ll be out in the sun. But one thing I need to be better about is using sunscreen EVERY day, not just when I’m at the beach or doing an outdoor activity.
So I’m glad to have tried some of Supergoop!’s new products to help me be a better sunscreen user! The Unseen Sunscreen is a clean gel-like primer that is easy to apply, weightless and the perfect base for makeup! It’s such a great way to seamlessly add in sun protection without adding a layer of anything greasy or heavy to your face. It’s a no brainer.
I also am a big fan of their cream Shimmershade eyeshadows– yes, eyeshadows with SPF! They are light and spread wonderfully and then actually stay even in the heat! Shimmery and natural and great for protecting that delicate skin on your eyelids! I’d be a fan even if they didn’t have SPF, so it’s a complete bonus to have that added protection. I’m wearing the Shimmershade in First Light and Sunset. They also have a line of light body oil that gives your skin some shimmer while also protecting it from harmful UVA and UVB rays! The best thing about these products is that they don’t FEEL like sunscreen, so your more apt to use them daily, which is so important.
For Henry, I try to apply his whole body with sunscreen every morning before he gets dressed. I like the Supergoop! Sunnyscreen lotion for this, especially since it’s chemical free and full of skin nourishing ingredients (his skin is quite sensitive). And now I always have the little Sunnyscreen stick in my purse or beach bag for quick touch ups when on the go. It’s very smooth and easy to put on a wiggly toddler, unlike some other sticks that tug and pull. It can seem like an Olympic event to put sunscreen on little ones, so anything that makes it easier helps!
Keeping our whole family safe from the sun’s harmful rays is a huge priority for me, especially given my family history. So thanks to Supergoop! for reaching out and giving me some excellent products to try out and share with you to help spread the word #butfirstsunscreen!

Today is my first day wearing the unseen sunscreen and the eye shadow. So far both feel and (look) great! Thank you for introducing me to these products.

So it doesn’t leave marks on your clothes like ring around the collar, wrists, neckline? That is what makes me INSANE about sunblock in general. DH will only wear sprays, and applies it before he gets dressed. I hate two things about that too: it makes his skin look shiny and not in a natural way; it creates the worst gunk buildup if used indoors but he’s not about to go stand outside with next to nothing on. Sunblock – can’t live with it, can’t live without it!
Supergoop is the BEST! I am fair-skinned and burn in the Southern and Southwestern sun if I spend more than an hour outside in the heat, even with most SPF 50s. Since I live in the South, I usually cover up with UPF shirts and big hats, but Supergoop 50 works amazingly well, isn’t sticky, and I can actually spend more than 15 minutes at the beach or pool without looking like I’m crossing the Sahara.
Keep a tube of their hand cream in your purse or car too. Have about 8 of their products and the only one I didn’t like was the self tanning spray.
