A couple weeks ago Real Simple asked me how I thought Beyonce would decorate the nursery for her soon-to-be twins. It was fun to think about and since then I’ve wanted to flush out the idea I mentioned in the article. So I took the time to imagine a super high end, amazing nursery in gender neutral tones (since we don’t know they genders yet). Blues and greys and a soothing palette. Dreamy but modern. I wish I could make this actually come to life for Purple Rain and Pink Floyd (as we’ve dubbed the twins in our office.)

And then once I finished that board, I felt the need to see if I could create a similar look on a normal “non-Beyonce” budget. And I was able to! And I love this one just as much! It may be short on Hermes and original Ellsworth Kelley art, but it’s still awesome in it’s own right! And I’m loving the palette of mint and grey/beige for a suprise gender nursery.

Oh boy, all this nursery talk is making want another baby.
I love that bubble light- it looks good enough to put in my dining room, rather than keeping it in baby’s room! I’d probably use the cloud lighting for bab’s room, just because it helps make the room look more whimsical, light, and airy. Thank you for sharing!
What a lovely colour palette! Both luxury and budget are stunning :)
Oh my gosh, I have been looking for a non-Beyoncé budget bubble chandelier for weeks and you found the perfect one! Thank you!
Beautiful design Erin! I would love a brass mobile over my own bed. And to the haters, this is Erin’s blog, she can say whatever she wants. If you don’t like it, don’t read it!
I love these design boards! I’ve been eyeing that dresser up for my own bedroom (actually love that whole collection) and love the rug in the more affordable board. Both are so serene and great gender neutral nurseries.
Unfortunately for me, the custom drapes are my favorite. Now I can’t buy them anywhere unless I buy them from you!
Gee I’m sorry I missed the original wording on your post! For people who are so quick to say “Don’t judge others!” they sure are awfully quick to judge from behind a computer screen. Please don’t edit your opinions or sense of humor to pander, there’s enough for the “thought police” to gripe over already. Beautiful designs and I’m sure it was a funny quip. #keepitreal
The bubble light fixtures are so fun. And those rugs are beautiful. The wallpaper is a welcome respite from cartoon-character-themed rooms.
Love this post ! Quick question…Love the window treatments but when doing them how to do you incorporate darkeners if that makes sense especially in a nursery or any bedrooms where it is needed? Do you do the curtains then have something in windows also?
And PS I thought Queen Bey’s Grammy performance was beyond annoying….
I’m out of the loop with all things Beyonce (well, I had heard she’s pregnant) but I love these rooms. Except I’d like them as grown up rooms … for me! Sub in a queen size bed for the crib and I’m there. Calm, restful … with a chaise (add an ottoman for the rocker in the low $$ nursery and I’m good). I’d sleep like a baby…
Oh man, I adore that bubble lamp! You find the coolest stuff.

Dumb
Seriously, the commenters on this blog are so rude! To Erin, and her readers. What is it about sitting behind your computer screen that makes you say stuff like this? I don’t see it anywhere else!
Erin, you’re awesome.
Brittany, comment away.
Jeez!
I totally agree about her making the pregnancy announcement a bit of a spectacle. One minute she’s naked with flowers and the next she and her mom are giving the camera the finger. She WANTS people to be talking about her, so everyone please lighten up
I’m a huge fan of your blog and while I think this post was great otherwise, I didn’t love the side comment about Beyonce’s pregnancy. I didn’t know this until recently, and I am hoping you were not aware either, but her first pregnancy was a miscarriage. She has every reason to celebrate the ability to have twins at 35. I highly doubt you meant any harm by your comment but I still found it insensitive.
I was not meaning to be offensive at all– I do think she is being a little over the top, as is her right and her style to be, but will keep that to myself from now on.
The nurseries are beautiful, but I’m not sure the judgement about how someone else, celebrity or otherwise, handles their pregnancy was necessary.
They are both beautiful! I knew I was having a girl but did grey/yellow nursery in 2012/2013. I love this idea :)
