Monochromatic Marvel (and it’s a rental!)

I LOVED this House Beautiful story about Jill Weeks’ home in Charleston this month.  After devouring the pictures of the perfectly curated space I could not believe my eyes when I read it was a RENTAL!?  First of all, how does one find a rental that looks like THIS? And secondly, I love that she went all out with her decor despite only planning to live here a little over a year.  Take a peek at her masterful mix of modern and traditional decor and then see how to get the look yourself at the end!

The black and white flag just makes the exterior THAT much cooler.

A simple but interesting entry.

This kitchen is amazing as is- again, I ask where one finds a rental like this?

The entire house is painted in a single color (which she did).  Not all rentals allow painting but if they do, using a single color like this is smart!

Another interesting nook full of mixed textures.

Dramatic art can make a room.

This bedroom looks SO relaxing (maybe it’s just my sick and tired self, but the calming no frills decor is so calling to me!)

A guest bedroom in the same palette.

She turned a spare room into a lovely dressing room.  I can see she is lady after my own hear with that leopard top over yonder :)

And the PATIO- my goodness. I can’t even!

She just looks like one of those cool people who is steadfast and confident in her style- I so admire that in a person.

Here are some items that can help your space look a little more like this one!

  1. Wow! I’ve always wanted to abandon my soft color preferences and go for more dramatic choices like those depicted in the photos. Beautifully done!

  2. So, I usually love the spaces you post, but this one knocks it out of the ballpark for me. I can’t remember the last time I saw design that felt like it was hand-sewn just for me like this. I will be stealing liberally! Thank you for sharing!

  3. Amazing! Indeed, it’s exceptional as a rental property. There must be a reason. It must be the home of somebody who got a short-term work assignment and decided to rent it rather than leave it empty. And if you pick a designer as a tenant, you get a free paint upgrade. Smart move.

    1. The Sherwin Williams Pussy Willow paint color–does that apply to the exterior paint (trim) color also? Would love to know what that is. Excellent feature today!

    2. I thought the exact same thing–I have clients who are transferred to London or Paris (or similar) and don’t want to sell their exceptional properties. The trick is finding the ideal tenant!

  4. i work right down the street from this place – and walk by it almost daily i have always LOVED the outside – but now to see the inside! <3 <3 <3
oh. my. gosh. i love it!

  5. Wow!! I mean Wow!! Those kitchen floors-only in my dreams!! I would stay there indefinitely!!

  6. Love that guest room…and you’re right! She is so confident in her style. I hope to rock a similar look eventually.
