Beachy Modern

The second I saw the cover of the new Traditional Home I fell in love with this space design by Cynthia Hayes – a modern beach house living room with a great mix of textures and materials.

The limestone fireplace is a stunner and the simple palette lets it really shine and become the focus of the room.  That and the magical light flooding the room.

Of course, it turns out this space is in a home on Nantucket, my favorite place ever.  It makes me SUPER excited that I’m spending this weekend on the island for the Nantucker Wine Festival with girlfriends (mommy’s first weekend away!!!!!)

The simple dining room, again mixing modern and traditional details perfectly- also, check out the perfect floor color. Swoon.

This family room space is cozy while being neat and modern- and again that BEAM. GAH!

  3. Very relaxing space. Love that reading nook! I have a rug like #7 that I bought at Pottery Barn that I really loved. My cats had a field day with it.

  4. Omg!! Erin…I was in that house!!! I attended a family wedding there in Septembef & I remember thinking ‘this is so incredibly beautiful …very EOS worthy!’. I nearly died waking through there it was so incredibly designed ….inside and out!!! So happy to see it on your blog since you came to mind when I laid eyes on it.

  5. Yes, this is certainly a beautiful house. I noticed there are no window treatments anywhere – that always confuses me. Shouldn’t windows be dressed in some way?

  6. Do you know what kind of shake shingle siding is on this home? Is it treated?? I want it on my home!

  7. Erin, that’s my house!!! I have been a longtime follower (since the South End days!) and really admire your style, honesty and HUMOR! So needless to say, it was a thrill to see our house in your blog post! Thank you! Hope you enjoyed wine week… :-) xoxoxo
