Most kitchens these days use counter stools instead of barstools due to the popularity of single level countertop islands in kitchens these days. So I thought I’d round up some of my favorites for you!
#6 is the perfectly chic but unobtrusive option for my small kitchen. Sadly, the link doesn’t deliver. Do you know the maker?
Yes, need the link for #6!
Wisteria! Got them! Thank you!
Тhere are great models. I chose 23 and 24
Erin – this post is worth it’s weight in gold – i am always looking for some kind of stool…and i can no longer get the wesley hall one that i want….THANK YOU !!!
C’mon Erin. I just know you are feverishly typing away on your computer for your next post re: the J Crew catalogue. Looks like J Crew has a major case of the stripes. I opened the catalog and immediately thought “oh, Erin’s gonna die!” Fess up. How many items are in your ‘cart’ already?? ;-)
Like six. No seven. :)
Haha! I’ll take the over.
OMG – my first two items were already sold out when i went online to look! :(
very beautiful models!
Number 1, 8 and 10 are amazing! We’re doing a small renovation at our villa in Madrid. These would be a great addition. Thank you very much for the idea. I hope to find them.
Number 11 will fit great into my interior …. Unique … Thank you :)
Obsessed with Paris so #5 is my fave! we’re contemplating a kitchen upgrade so this post is great.
Now that the weather has finally changed on the East Coast, I’d love a roundup of your favorite outdoor dining furniture!
I’ve designed 2 kitchens and I bought unfinished wooden stools and had the shop stain/paint them the same as the island. They don’t have a lot of style per se, but they ‘disappear’ when not in use.
All these are so cool, though my personal favorite is number 30. Also, for a wooden chair, number 48 is quite ugly….
There are really very beautiful models. 10 and 50 are simply unique.
Most bar stools are ugly and remind me of bachelor pads or basement man caves but every. single. one. here is gorgeous! I love the mix of styles you have here and how neutral so many of them are! You could put so many of these in nearly any home to either go with the current style or add a little something/flair to your kitchen. Love love love!
We also have a counter-height bar. I love it–great surface for cookie making and other projects, practical for entertaining, good spot for kids when we have a dinner party and the main table is full…We have stools from Ikea, which are fine, but I’d really like #5 or #9 or #21. Our dining set is like #32, very French, and I would like something in a similar mood but not matchy-matchy.
Also, I really prefer having a comfortable back on a stool. I don’t like just a seat.
Thank you! Such a helpful and timely post for us right now. I think #49 would look great in our post-reno kitchen but I may show a couple of the others to my husband this evening. I agree with Nikki, a floor runner round up would be terrific. Thank you for all that you do.
Love these roundups, Erin! With the thousands of choices out there I always find it hard to choose so thanks for narrowing it down for me!
Loveee when you do these posts! I am an interior designer who struggles with picking things for myself because I want everything and work in commercial design so I don’t always know some of these great resources. Can you pleaseee do a floor runner round up! I can not find any that are affordable and beautiful at the same time! XOXO
Such a timely post for me. I have a single level island (wanted bi-level but whatever) and I am on the hunt for really substantial, upholstered counter stools. Love #s 10 and 47 especially.

Single level is much chic-ER than bi-level!
Erin, last year at your recommendation I got these counter stools from Target.
