Black and White Nursery Insanity.

I have two fabulous lines to show you today that focus on black and white as a nursery scheme- who says you can’t have black in a nursery? Certainly not moi! Check out these examples while I go get my third cup of coffee due to the fact that Henry is in some sort of planet alignment craziness/growth spurt/possessed by evil spirits phase….

I bet you can guess that when the new Emily & Merritt Collection for PB Kids dropped so did my jaw. This is like, straight outta my black and white lovin’ brain! I mean….WHAAAAAAT!?

Like, this rocker IS my living room chair.

SEE!? Woah. Was this an EOS inspired collection or what?

And this crib situation is fierce.

Especially the iron crib itself with upholstered ends. Can you even? I can’t. If I could fit in it I’d sleep in it.

And the tassel crib skirt? EEEEEKKKKSSS!

BAM. That. Just. Happened. (The bedding, that is)

This bedding is perfect for a surprise gender baby because if it’s a girl you can add a coral or bright pink and if it’s a boy emerald green or bright blue!  Yellow would look pretty fierce for either gender too!

These stroller blankets? Pretty please, with pom poms on top.

An awesome zebra “hide” rug and striped dhurrie-type (both would easily work in adult rooms too)

This nearly killed me. How amazingly NOT hideous is this playmat? And the black and white is great for babies eye sight and development.  You won’t be able to pry Henry’s little paws off his current one that plays music and flashes lights and basically communicates with space, but MAN this is good.

Cute bookends (also great for grownup shelves) and adorably framed animal stitched art.

And this doll? With her denim shirt, tulle skirt and kitty flats all looking like an Instagram- star fashion blogger?

And another AMAZING small company that does incredible nursery items in this chic palette (as well as pink and light blue) is Pemberley Rose.  I was SO happy to be introduced to this darling small brand.

The crib and twin bed sheets are so darling and delicate.

And their black and white sketches would complete a simple, serene nursery.

More choices, even some appropriate for boys!  I think Henry needs some of the crib sheets for sure!

The wallpaper. Oh, the wallpaper. I hope we can design a nursery suing one of these soon!

And how about THESE dolls? Right off the darn runway and yet with beautiful handmade quality AND for every doll purchased a doll is gifted to an orphan!!!! I LOVE THIS.

  1. I’ve been hunting for a recliner that is comfortable but doesn’t make me scream with frustration at how hideous it is – maybe what I actually need in my life is that rocking chair!

  2. Babies respond visually to the stark contrast between black and white and find it very intriguing and stimulating. Absolutely great looking room, too.
Love everything, especially the dolls that are given to orphans with each purchase. So great!

  3. That first pic is overkill. Ugh! It made me dizzy. A small touch here and there but that’d be it for me.

  4. From a fellow lover of black and white I am dying!! Children’s rooms are favorites of mine to design and this new to me line has so many offerings that would be fun to work with. Thank you for the intro!!

  5. Who says nurseries can’t be chic? Your post is proof positive that they can. (And those few touches of whimsy are perfect — LOVE the dolls and the framed prints!)

Black and white (with strong pops of color) is my preferred color scheme, so it’s really fun to see this aesthetic translated into children’s spaces. Fantastic post! Thanks, Erin. :)

  6. Overall, I love it! But not for a baby… There’s so much black for a baby :( But I like the decorations and the little details.

  7. This black/white/gold nursery is perfect for twins…
I wish they had that 5 years ago with my twins (boy/girl)! It would have been so much more fun than the usual beige or green or grey to fit unisex nursery…

    It’s gorgeous!

  8. I used that iron crib (back when it was available in gold) in a nursery for a client last spring and we reupholstered the ends in this darling blue white and navy stripe. It turned out SO cute. My upholsterer did say that they probably wouldn’t want to do it again because the panels were really hard to get off of the frame, but whatever—totally worth it!

In love with that baby play mat. Every one I’ve ever seen has been hideous but this would blend right in to any decor!

And PS—They were totally reading EOS when they designed this collection—it is so you!
