A quick addition update before I leave for a couple days to shoot a project in Scarsdale, NY… we are about a week and change away from being done with construction! We had our built ins installed yesterday and things are really, really taking shape!
In the master suite entry hall we devised a set of built-ins to serve as Andrew’s closet and they came out awesome. The special mirrored doors are en route, but already Andrew is psyched about how much storage he has, and I ADORE the bookcase in the middle! :)
We had originally planned on plain mirrored doors but last minute I decided to upgrade to mirrored doors with some detail- this X design allows Andrew to still sue the mirrors functionally, but gives them more style.
Picking a paint color has been so hard. Because the ceilings are angled and funky we are using the same color on the walls and ceiling (cleaner look and helps the ceilings look even higher because the eye doesn’t know where the wall stops and the ceiling begins). So I want to keep it very light but a shade of taupe- and I’ve partnered with Sherwin Williams on this because when testing colors for my book I was SUPER impressed with their paint quality. And bottom you can see a peek of the wallpaper going on the wall opposite Andrew’s built ins. This is the west wall:
Big samples (’cause that top left tiny one is just WRONG): Top right: SW Windfresh White, Middle right: SW Incredible White, Bottom right: SW Eider White (bathroom wall color), left: SW Simple White
The east wall:
Large samples- Top left: Windfresh White, Bottom left: Eider White, Top right: Simple White, Middle Right: Incredible White.
I’m thinking I’ll go with Incredible White. Or Simple White. Shit.
Here’s the window seat taking shape, with lift up panels to store extra blankets and sheets!
Our vanity came in- painted color matched Benjamin Moore Chelsea Gray. The top will be a white quartzite, and of course, lots of brass plumbing and hardware.
The shower taking shape- dark grey grout next.
By next week we should be WRAPPED. And then we wait for all the furniture to come in. :)
** After I wrote this the news of Robin Williams broke, and truly devastated me. I plan to write a little about this tomorrow. In the meantime, I wish his family peace, hope and comfort.
