Simple Style: Put A Sheepskin On It

When it gets all crisp and cold there is nothing you want to do more than make your home more cozy.  And the simplest way to do that is to just start tossing sheepskin rugs around like confetti.  Draped over a chair, sofa, on a floor, on a bench- they add fabulous texture and a high-end look while upgrading the fuzzy, awesome factor of wherever they land by like, 100 percent. Babies and dogs are BIG, BIG fans too. BIG. Bax and Ollie would fight to the death over a sheepskin rug. Or anything fuzzy really. Our West Elm faux fur blanket has somehow become a dog bed….

Just look at how all these folks used them. IKEA has tons of them for awesome prices, of course. But see the Shop The Post items at the end of this post for more sources!

Nurseries are a perfect spot for these, big or small- babies love to snuggle on them!

I’m so feeling this faux sheepskin tree skirt for holiday decor that doesn’t scream “Christmas!!!!!!!” and make your eyes bleed. Also, these stockings.

Speaking of, during the chillier months throw a few sheepskins over outdoor furniture and get cozy!

How much do you 1) wish this was real and 2) that it wouldn’t be the biggest decor eyesore if it was? I did find a smaller one though. :)

  1. Since “cozy” is probably one of my favorite words in the English language, I’m pretty much all over this. I love the soft texture and nubby warmth of sherpa/faux sheepskin. I have a blanket and pillow but I wish I could have a rug and more blankets in this great fabric! I just love it for the cooler weather.

  2. First of the title of this post is PERFECT. LOL!
Secondly, its October and getting chillier and now you went ahead and made me want to buy something I didn’t even know I wanted. I want coziness!

  3. We have a sheepskin draped over a chair in our living room and it really is so cozy. I was just saying to my husband last night, why don’t I drag this thing from chair to chair so that I can rest my head on it wherever I sit? Ha!

  4. I agree with the other commenters who prefer faux sheepskin. It would be hard for me to enjoy a real sheep’s skin in my home…. But Erin, your design instincts are really astounding.

  5. Do you know if there’s any negative effects with the faux sheepskins – i.e. shedding? Tough to clean? Love the look, but with kids and a dog I need to be practical, too. Any feedback would be great. Thanks!

  6. I love the sheepskin look too, especially since I’m always cold. Unfortunately it’s just one look my boyfriend will NOT jump on board with!

Great pics, especially loving the bathroom feature.

  7. This is awesome. Everything looks so comfortable and homey. I especially like the jumbo sheep bean bag (if I can call it that). Clearly wouldn’t need to count sheep to fall asleep once you lay on it. Thank you for this!

  8. My Dad gave a beautiful goatskin rug that I have thrown over the back of my sofa I and my cats think it is was put there solely for their enjoyment. It does look chic and is very cozy indeed when the temps dip below 40.

  9. No, that sheepskin beanbag chair needs to be bigger! haha. Seriously, I wouldn’t ever leave that chair if that were the case – ugly or not! Off to get some sheepskins so I can throw them like confetti. Make it rain! :)

  10. Lol, I love this. There is truly nothing more cozy during the cold months than good-quality faux fur. ;-) Our Restoration Hardware faux fur blanket from last year has somehow become the premier lounging spot for our dog. We’ll file that one under “This Is Why I Can’t Have Nice Things.”
