Fornasetti Fun

I was in one of my favorite showrooms the other day, Lee Jofa, when I spotted an installation of this amazing etched clouds wallpaper from Cole & Sons. I’d seen it in samples before but never on the wall and I fell hard for it and then found out it was a Fornasetti design.  Seeing as my love for things black and white is at an all time high right now, I decided to revisit his designs which I once didn’t care for, and found myself intrigued!

Malachite it having a moment- and this wallpaper is one of the best.  I actually had no idea it was Fornasetti, that’s how uneducated I am about his work. I’m actually hoping to wallpaper the interior of a cabinet in the green version.

Do you remember reader Colette’s apartment I featured here and here years ago?? She had a great collection of Fornasetti and had her bathroom papered in this iconic print!

Just a hint of Fornasetti.

Here are some small accents you could add to your house for a touch of this look since you only really need (and want) a dose of it.  It can be overwhelming in abundance.

These candles are AWESOME!!! I’d love the first one for my house.

These plates with their gold accents are gorgeous and would look pretty amazing hanging on the wall.

This little eye dish would be great as a catchall for earrings or bobby pins on your bathroom counter. Same for this cool box!

And if you can;t swing the wallpaper, you could just add this book to your coffee table!

  1. I found that cloud wallpaper yesterday too!! I think it would be so great in a bathroom. Love that malachite too…such a statement.

  2. I have a pillow on my couch of the Fornasetti “shushing” woman. It’s one of my favorite pieces. I’ve been a devotee of Fornasetti ever since. Thanks for this post!

  3. Oh my! I love malachite. The wallpaper is great. I love your idea of using it in a cabinet. It’s a clever way to use such a bold paper.

  4. Thanks for all your support Erin. We chose to install the cloud pattern “Nuvolette” by Fornesetti in the Boston Lee Jofa showroom, because we thought it was that perfect blend of traditional and modern, which we strive to achieve with all the brands we represent. I think it’s destined to be as iconic as Cole and Sons famous “Woods” pattern.

  5. Hi Erin,

#2 for sure! Can never have enough animal print. Especially for Fall.

Huge fan of your site. Can’t wait to see the results of renovations to your new home.
