Pinch Me: Better Homes & Gardens Cover!

When I found out that my old bedroom was the cover shot for Better Homes & Gardens I couldn’t believe it.  I screamed, of course, but a part of me was like “I’m pretty sure I hallucinated that” and until I saw it I still kind of expected the magazine to arrive and have a cake on the cover instead. Well, it’s TRUE and I am shocked, honored, flattered and flabbergasted. My first cover. On a huge national magazine. HOW DID THIS HAPPEN TO ME????

It’s funny, since not only is this my old place in the city, but I only lived there for 8 months! But thanks to the amazing styling of Stacy Kunstel and the incredible photography of Michael Partenio (also the owners of Dunes & Duchess- check them out) we took some great images.  Go pick up a copy!  But in the meantime, here is the article:

A lot of people have asked about the bedding- it was from Lands End, but is no longer available!  Why don’t more affordable bedding producers make coral banded bedding??? Lamp by Jill Rosenwald, bench from Ballard Designs in Duralee fabric, nightstand and dresser are antiques, bed is Crate & Barrel, wall color is Elephant Skin by Behr (AWESOME color).

And they also filmed a video at the studio of some tips (and Lindsey and I being a little spastic over a magazine).  More proof of why I’ll never be a TV star.

Loved this feature in better homes and gardens. I was stuck in the Miami airport all day on Tuesday and I think I read the article 3 times and stared at the pictures for hours. Beautiful, inspiring rooms!

  32. Kitty says:

It looks so lovely, but – um – is it acceptable to use spastic in that sense in America? In Europe it is considered to be extremely disrespectful to people suffering from cerebral palsy. Perhaps it is just a language barrier issue.

  33. I’ve understand some terrific goods listed here. Definitely price tag bookmarking for returning to. My partner and i astonish exactly how so much effort you determine in making this type of great informative web page.

My issue of Better Homes & Gardens came in the mail today and the piece on your beautiful (past) home is what brought me to your blog just now. I love your eye for style and what you said about loving one piece in each room and building around it. Great advice! Now I’m poking around on your blog and I’m loving it, too! I’m so glad to have found you. Congratulations on your amazing feature!

I have to say, I’ve never bought BHG before and your cover shot was the reason I bought it! Love your style and your blog. You officially have a new reader!

  38. Jodi says:

WOW! I am a new reader to your blog and just realized you live in Boston (I do too!). Your place is BEAUTIFUL! It’s amazing to see your place in Boston have so much character and be so neatly organized while having so much style. Living in the city in a (very) small apartment, I struggle to find the balance between chaotic mess and neatly styled. Any tips for decorating while renting? I always find myself questioning if it’s worth it since I only rent. Love your blog – keep up the awesome work.
