Fashion Friday: In the Trenches

I don’t think there is a more iconic fashion staple then the trench. I have been looking for the most wonderful, perfect, last-a-lifetime one (Burberry, of course, HERE- saving the pennies) for a long time. I want to wait and buy ONE and keep it until it’s in tatters.  I love how it goes from casual to dressy and everything in between. It’s crazy sexy too, which is hard for a jacket that is tailored and covers everything up to be.  We all need one.
The ladies that made this coat look immaculate and forever chic:

(Wendy, wearing the trench I am saving for, flawlessly I might add.)

This affordable trench is gorgeous, and I love pairing it with other French staples like stripes, booties and flared dark denim.  Spring perfection.

do you have a burberry outlet near you? we have one about 1.5 hours away, i was able to get a $1500 black trench, with removable quilted lining for colder temps at about $500. they also have the classic quilted jackets in a range of colors typically floating at about $350 – i bought one years ago for $500 and if they didn’t hold up so well i would truly be kicking myself.

Somewhere between 1956 and 1962 I owned the most amazing double breasted trench (no belt) in a very light beige, maybe cream. Always wore it with a turtleneck and big sunglasses. I miss that trench….we had some great times together. You buy that trench! Hope you and Andrew are enjoying your beautiful home. Have a great weekend.

I just scored a vintage christian dior trench online and come to find out it’s mens – meaning it’s insanely big. Not sure if I dare alter a vintage Christian Dior anything, but then again it’s vintage freaking Christian Dior and I want it! Keeping my fingers crossed you get your burberry baby soon!

  4. I was about to say the same thing as Andrea. You need to find a Burberry outlet. I also have a $1500 that I got for just under $500. I also have the quilted jacket and several can find great deals there!

  5. I completely agree. The Burberry trench is so incredibly iconic and beautiful. I can’t justify it now but am dreaming of getting one of my own someday!

  6. Love the Audrey photos, she was so cute.

I love a trench, but like so many awesome things that are currently/perennially in fashion, they don’t work as well on busty girls.

Such a classic. My sister got one last year and I’m still trying to figure out a way to “borrow” it for a long, long time.

I need a classic trench. Burberry may be a little outta my price range but hoping to find a good substitute soon.

  10. Oh how I love trenches. I was fortunate enough to score a burberry trench from the outlet last year. Additionally a few years back I scored a leather trench very similar to the one pictured from Zara. Whenever I wear either jacket I get complements…investment pieces that will last forever.

  11. I.Love.A.Trench. I own a non-belted one in beige, which has a fun satiny blue lining. My second one is a belted black trench from Banana Republic. I love coats and jackets in general, but I always look forward to springtime so I can wear my trenches. If money were no object, I would probably own one in every color!

By the way, that camel-colored leather trench in the photo above? I die.

I have a Burberry trench that I bought around 3 years ago….. and I don’t wear it a lot. For one, I feel like a total fashion cliche (need to work on getting over this), especially if I have a striped top on underneath it, and I also feel the beige washes me out a little. I had a passport photo taken wearing it, and you know the saying “if you look like your passport photo you definitely need a holiday”… well I did, and also looked like I was channeling a cold war era spy. And not in a good way!
