A Bit of Country

I picked up Country Living while flying to Florida last weekend and was really surprised by the awesome content and features.  Especially the California home of actor Corbin Bernsen and his wife.  Such a great, casual home with a lovely mix of both restraint and eclectic detail.  When I think of “country” homes my brain tend to go right to gingham, kitsch and too much stuff.  These three rooms prove me wrong (sorry for the crap iPhone pics instead of scans.)

I LOVE the small pop of color balanced out by the neutral furniture in their living room:

How amazing is that off center lantern? GENIUS!!!! I am in search of a fabulous vintage marble bust for my house like this one too.

Those iron framed doors and window make me tremble with joy. Someday.  Maybe my next house. :)  Also loving the simple industrial chairs and lights mixed with the rustic table.  This combination keeps it interesting and fresh.

  1. Yes! Country living is secretly awesome! They also have great ideas for sourcing little gifts and budget decor. And if you have a pet-there is a little column for “ask a country vet” that I have found helpful. Have a great day!

  2. Thanks for the link to the Etsy shop selling that amazing pillow. Everyone should check out the other unique pillows she is selling. Definitely book marking this shop.

  3. How funny! I normally don’t pick up that magazine either but I picked it up on a whim and LOVED that house. I particularly loved the barn/studio that the two sons share as well as the living room.

  4. I think all the home decor magazines have been spot on this month. I found so much inspiration in the March issues of Elle Decor and House Beautiful. Love when that happens!
