The Interior Influence

I was perusing the Resort 2012 collection from Dsquared yesterday and noticed that a lot of the looks (which I LOVE) seem to be so strongly influenced by interiors!  While I’ve long believed that interiors are influenced by fashion (see my series with Kelley Moore) a runway ensemble can also be influenced by a great room! When trying to pick colors for your home make your closet the first stop for inspiration- notice what colors repeat themselves and consider those for walls or pillows.  If it’s a sea of black and grey, then consider a clean, monochromatic space.  Decorating the way you dress is a way to make your home feel comfortable to you. Take a peek and my room pairings with the line and see what you think!

(How amazing is this chest that Sheriden French painted for her home?)

  1. AWESOME! Love D-Squared and your pics! I about DIED when I saw that chest on Sheridan’s blog–GENIUS!!!!

  2. Erin, this is a great post. So many people have no idea where to start when they love so many different decor styles and can’t make up their minds about which to commit to in their own home (always so much easier when decorating others’ spaces, as you know). Going straight to your closet for inspiration makes the decision an easy one!

  3. What an amazing post!!!!!!! you are seriously SOoO talented at both fashion and interiors

  4. That painted chest by Sheriden French is sublime! And your interiors/fashion pairings are just pure genius! I am now inspired to look at interiors in a totally different and unique way. Absolutely fabulous posting!

  5. This is probably the best I have seen of this idea–better than domino for sure as they never quite got the proportions/color ratios right which you did–love your blog!!

  6. Saw the chest of drawers on Sheridan’s blog yesterday. She kindly responded to my question about the paint color for another painted furniture project she tackled over the weekend. She is amazing: 2 LITTLE kids, fashion line, blog, amazing house, etc. WHERE does she find the time/energy? She makes (most of) the rest of us look lazy or clueless or both.

  7. Amazzzzzzing post! I adore fashion and interiors and this post is perfection. Loving D Sqaured’s collection, much more than previous ones and the interiors you posted next to each look are gorgeous.

  8. Aww Erin you shouldn’t have. Too flattering. Seriously. Thank you for thinking my little home project was worthy of being included! I mean I would have definitely put another coat of orange on if I knew it would get attention like this!! Tell me next time mkay? ;) You’re the sweetest xx

  9. I want one of each of the items on the left column and I really like the spaces. What a super fun way to look at things. ;) xoxo
