Pantone announced that it’s “Color of 2011″ is Honeysuckle- a reddish-corally-deep pink. It’s surprising at first to think that this bold color is what the guess will be the big trend of the year (I would have thought an orange color would have been from looking at the runways looks for 2011) but then I got to thinking about how versatile pink actually is. I found so many rooms I LOVE using pink- either in large doses or small accents. It can
Here is the color of the year and some of the colors that look great paired with it:

And here are some rooms to get you thinkin’ pink- I say investigate ALL shades of pinks from whispery pink to corals to deep dark magenta.

The pink is lovely, but when I hear “Honeysuckle” it sounds like it should be yellow.. confusing!
This certainly makes me feel better about the coral my landlady slapped on our front door and kitchen cabinets. Oh, and the large, shiny coral accent wall too… now I might be able to accessorize it. Thus far, I have been stumped. Did I mention my existing area rug (from our last home) is the same color? Arrrgghh.
i painted my 6-yr old daughters room a basic light pink and then the adjoining playroom a deeper pink on the same color swatch which looked waaaay too ‘pepto-bismol’ – i ended up repainting the playroom C2 Parchment and it is the perfect balance – the taupe color has a hint of lavender and i love it!
What a treasure trove of gorgeous rooms!!!!! Plus, I love honeysuckle and citron paired together too…
Love this color – it is so happy and pretty!
Random aside: your site is loading really slowly for me these days. Is anyone else having issues with this?
I didn’t think I would, but I LOVE pink like this for decorating. A pink room in my future?? Hmmmmmm.
Lovely, lovely examples!
That’s exactly the same thing I thought……honeysuckle = mustardy honey colour right? Anyway, I’m not a big fan of pink for clothes but occasionally I like to pair my very few pink pieces with grey so I don’t feel too sweet barbie doll ;)
I love the warm gray combined with it. Such a bright refreshing combo for the dreary weather we’ve been having lately.
yes, yes, yes to all of the combinations! i am such a pink lady- can’t wait for more pink in the new year!

Love me some PINK!!
I think I could get to really like this pink shade. Hmmm, I may have to go and pick up some pink now!
Great post. I did a Master Bedroom last year all in pale pink from Lee Jofa..on the list to photograph this year. I love this deeper shade of pink. It makes me think of Demi Moore’s apartment in the movie St. Elmo’s Fire. If you haven’t seen it, google it. So tacky…it is fabulous.
Erin, I love all your color combos (especially the honeysuckle with molten lava!) but I have to say, I still don’t know if I’m 100% behind the Honeysuckle choice for Color of the Year in general. I’m with you — I could’ve sworn it was going to be a color in the orange family! Fantastic collection of rooms though. Hope your 2011 is off to a great start!
I was also sure a coraly-orange would have made it this year, but I think we could all use a little pink in our lives this year – its a happy color. I don’t normally decorate with pink but there are so many hues to choose from, as evident by your fabulous post today! I’m a fuschia-kind of girl myself and I love it paired with grey or zebra print!
::glug glug glug:: that’s me drinking pepto out of the jar. ;)
Just kidding…pink is a good color if done right!
fantastic post!!!! thanks for pulling this together and sharing – i just tweeted it too! :)
Pink and grey/silver is one of my favourite color combos ever!
It is pretty but I feel like it should be yellow… pretty!
I also figured honeysuckle would be a yellow color! But I’m loving that pink/navy combo – so preppy and pretty! We’re looking at rearranging our home a little bit, which will mean repainting. I’m thinking I’ve found a color combo that will work!
What a versitile color pink is?! I especially like the deep pink pillows on the gray velvet couch- so gender neutral and pretty!
Love all the rooms you posted especially the grey sectional with those pillows, I’m having the same issue loading your site as someone who commented above.
the pink&teal bedroom = amaze-ing.
and don’t forget pink and brown – especially the milk chocolate color – delicious combo
I am really liking the shade especially when paired with black and white. This is a great collection of images. Nicely done!
I’m actually really digging the pink/orange+ lavender walls combo…super fresh, super feminine…makes me wish it was springtime already!
Happy New Year’s Erin!
