Here’s this week’s product recommendation from Glimpse of Glamour’s Samantha Chu!
If you had asked me a few years ago what was the one beauty product that I would take with me if I were stranded on a deserted island, I would have told you hands down that I could not survive (even a single day) without my Shu Uemera eye lash curler. In the past, I have been known to whip out my eye lash curler at inappropriate moments, (for example, while riding on the train, or driving a car with one hand), in hopes that somehow this magical contraption would take my lashes to new lengths while simultaneously curling them. Never happened. In addition to the amount of time I have spent curling my eyelashes, I have also spent hundreds of dollars trying to find that elusive mascara that will somehow change my lashes and my life FOREVER. Still looking!
Lately, I have resolved that unless I want to pony up for eyelash extensions, or spend my mornings painstakingly gluing fake eyelashes onto my upper eyelid, I am going to have to accept my stick straight eyelashes and move on. With that said, I would like to introduce my very favorite beauty product, the one that I could not live without, and that is: MAC Fluid Line.

Some people can get by with a dab of lipgloss and a swipe of mascara. Others, like myself, need a little something extra. For me that something extra is undoubtedly Mac Fluid Line in the color Black Track. I honestly don’t feel like I have eyes until I put it on. Now, I am sure most of you have heard of smudge pots before, but if you are still dragging a scratchy eyeliner pencil across your eyelid or shakily attempting to use a messy liquid liner, I give you the answer to all of your eye makeup applying woes.
Using the slanted brush #208, MAC Fluidline glides on evenly with minimal effort or skill. It stays put the entire day and can be applied heavily on the upper and lower eyelid for a dramatic appearance, or closer to the lash line for a softer, subtle look. Fluidline is available in a range of colors from grey to blue to deep purple and at $15 a pop, you can experiment with a number of shades without the guilt! Can I also take a moment to mention the fact that because you generally do not use that much per application, one pot of Fluidline will last you for like, ever? So, in conclusion, if you are short on time, money and patience, MAC Fluidline is the perfect addition to your makeup bag. Your eyes (and your wallet) will thank you.

Try the prescription eyelash drops, Latisse – IT WORKS. The drops seem pricey, but the bottle lasts much longer than the one month they recommend. Give it about six weeks, then WHAM-O awesome, dark lashes – I hardly need to wear mascara! (and no, I don’t sell the stuff, or make any kind of endorsement $$) ;)
Agreed, this is my favorite eyeliner of all time, and it does last forever!
good eye-dea!! i will definitely look into latisse!
ps. thank you erin, it looks fantastic!!!!!

I agree – i LOVE this eyeliner – my fave is the dark green with just a touch of shimmer. So pretty!
I cannot live without the Shu Uemura eyelash curler either! However, it works much better if I warm it with the heat of a blow dryer before curling my lashes.
Thanks for the tip. I know lots of people who swear by eyelash curlers and others who think it doesn’t make a flip of difference. I’d rather trust this than that dangerous contraption.
my sister actually heats hers up with a lighter. i just read scott barnes’ book, about face, and he recommends rubbing the eyelash curler with your fingers and heating it up with the friction of your own hands.. just be sure not to burn your eye!
Do you know if the MAC fluid line is like the Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Gel Eyeliner? It looks the same, just wondering if anyone has tried both. I use the Bobbi Brown stuff and love it but it tends to dry up as I go through the pot — I imagine the same happens with the MAC stuff?
i have gone through one full pot of mac fluidline in black i did notice that it dried up a little near the end, but it still glided on just fine and i was able to utilize the entire thing before replacing it! the makeup artists at mac say that the drying up shouldn’t happen, so i am hoping it was just a fluke. i have been using the same pot for over half a year now and it’s still good as new :)
ps. stila also makes a fabulous smudge pot, as does smash box.
I just bought my first smudge pot last week as a recommendation from a markup artist. I got the Smash Box version and it has changed my daily make-up routine forever. I have the worst time with my make-up melting off my face, even in the winter, and so far I haven’t had any run off. I will have to check out Mac when I’m ready to venture away from the standard black color. Thanks for the tip.
You were born with the most amazing lashes–and eyes.. people stopped us on the street so amazed were they!!!!!
