Modern Nautical Inspiration

Summer in New England is the absolute BEST.  I might be biased, being a born and bred New England girl, but to me, nothing makes me smile like a sunny afternoon in a charming seaside town full of weathered shingle homes, warm sand, a crisp gin and tonic, a harbor full of boats and that great mix of preppy and nautical style that is quintessentially of this area. So when I opened the latest Wistera catalog I fell head over heels for their mix of modern and vintage nautical styles! Lucite, rope, sails, weathered metal, stripes, crisp white, blue and red! Yes to it all!

Of course, this look also translates easily to fashion as well. I am completely obsessed with this Calypso tunic dress. I don’t care how much it is, it WILL BE MINE (cue evil chuckle and wringing of hands).

I have been living here for about 4 years now and yes I think New England is the best place to really and truly experience summer. I really need to get a summer cottage so that I can decorate it like the picture from Wisteria. I have always wanted to say, “I am summering on the Vineyard!”. Have a great day!

  8. Wow, I LOVE this!! I love that room, and all these pieces you’ve shown. Totally smitten here :)

Those chairs with the caning are driving me wild! They would be perfect in about every room in the world. And that b&w chevron bathing suit is even better poolside than coconut scented suntan lotion. Wow.

  13. New England summer’s are great. The air is so much more crisp and cool than it is down here in the south. Love all the nautical stuff too! That photo is what I would love if I had a beach house…light and airy with a few small touches.
