Meg Ryan’s Vineyard Home

The Elle Decor site is giving a little sneak preview of a spread from their upcoming issue featuring Meg Ryan’s Martha’s Vineyard home.  Talk about a breath of fresh air- it’s GORGEOUS. (P.S. Meg, please, keep all future work on houses and not on your face. Thanks. We love you the way you are.)

The kitchen is a phenomenal blend of old and new and feels perfectly suited for MV.

I want to be in this tub. Right now.

The view from the house looks like a painting. Perfection.

Meg has worked on some movies with incredible homes as sets (The Land of Women, The Women, etc.) but my favorite is still You’ve Got Mail. First of all, it’s a movie I can watch anytime and not get sick of. Secondly, her brownstone apartment in that film, while not my personal interior taste, is SO charming I can’t help but want to move right in. Plus, her character’s adorable little book store and the eternally charming, “I-Have-A-Inexplicable-Crush-On-Him” Tom Hanks to round it out makes her fictional life envious.

Some screen shots from that adorable studio apartment via Hooked on Houses:

You’ve Got Mail was on last night and of course it made me crave an UWS townhouse and shop around the corner! Thanks for the sunny beach pics on this rainy day.

  3. I’ve always loved that brownstone, too! I haven’t been to the Vineyard since college…that view makes me want to return ASAP!

OK…I am going to have to hunt down this house next time I am on the Vineyard! Oh my, how lucky is she! I loved every picture and I am going to go back and savor it slowly! Never knew she had a place there! I would love to have a small vacation home to summer there!

Its such a treat to discover another wit like mine because you mentioning her face …..my first thought was…would it be evil to mention she needs to stop with the plastic work & stick to housework??? Thanks for making me feel less evil, laughing straight of & everything else you are..fabulous!!!

I feel EXACTLY the same way about YGM!!! I’ve have been watching that movie on a fairly regular basis since 10th grade! When I was in college, I liked to put it on while I was getting ready in the mornings because it just seemed to put a little bounce in my step more so than hearing the news. Of course, I always wanted her apartment, as well. It was actually out for a few years before we got a Starbucks down here, so you can imagine the backflips I was doing when I got to have my very own “tall, skim, caramel macchiato.”

I love getting your updates in my inbox; keep up the good work!

Can’t wait to see more of her MV house. Looks gorgeous! I want that tub.

I agree with you that she needs to focus on working on houses and leave her face alone. Please, Meg. We’re begging you!

P.S. Thanks for the link to my “You’ve Got Mail” post. :)
