I assume most of you know about this site by now, but just in case you didn’t I wanted to post a out it because I think it’s pretty damn genius. Rent the Runway acts like your most stylish (and loaded) best friend’s closet, allowing you to rent dresses for special events that you may not be able to afford purchasing. Perfect for weddings or formal black tie affairs, this new concept is allowing all of us to feel a little more like movie stars. I for one know that I’ve bought many dresses for weddings that I never wear again just because I wanted something new to wear that no one had seen. This may be the solution to that money-sucking problem! Here are my current favorites available on RTR- join here to start browsing! I think I will give it a try for a big event I have coming up and will certainly report back on how it works!
This polka dot number from Prabal Gurung is AWESOME:

This Yigal Azourel gown is TO.DIE.FOR.

A couple gorgeous Lela Rose numbers:

Curious about the whole Herve Leger dress fad? I am! I assume it’s like full body Spanx! This one is my fave (with a nice summer (faux) tan)…

Ladylike frocks from Tuleh and Doo.Ri

Black tie gowns from Badgley Mischka:

Bold blue hues from Temperley London and Christian Cota:

Be a golden goddess in Yigal Azourel or Alice + Olivia

Loving this party dress by Matthew Williamson- retails for $2,5000, rent for $250

Nude is a big trend for spring, rock it out in this amazing Nicole Miller gown or sassy Christian Siriano number!

I personally am quite enamored with this one shouldered Catherine Malandrino piece- love the leather and chain strap playing of the sweet floral print fabric!

Erin, I agree their concept is brilliant in theory, but not always great in practice. I signed up for RTR and tried to find a dress for a formal benefit I needed to attend. Everything in my size was taken or not available for at least 2 months out, so I ended up not being able to use their services. I was so bummed because there were some beautiful dresses I would have loved to have worn (yes, Catherine Malandrino, I’m looking at you!). I guess the trick is planning way in advance so you’re more likely to get your pick. Definitely would like to hear how others have done with them!
I can tell you this place is amazing. Just rented a dress two weekends ago for an event I went to. They are based in NY and because there was a snowstorm, they overnighted my package to be sure I received it. The customer service is amazing and you even get TWO sizes to try. It’s defintely the next big thing!
wow, did NOT know about this site, thanks so much for mentioning it!!! I would love to use it for the military ball I attend every year!! genius idea
Beautiful dresses. As gowns go I love that Nicole Miller.
Saw this on The Today show last week. The idea is brilliant and I love it. Cannot wait to give it a go! Would be a brilliant concept for bridesmaid dresses, too!
ACK! Loooove that black Lela Rose dress!!

I have been wanting to try this for a while, but didn’t want to have things sent to New Orleans just for a night event. When i move to NYC this summer, I am definitely going to put it to good use!
brilliant idea! Thanks for sharing.
This is amazing, guess I am living under a rock! Thanks for letting me know!
