The Oscars are this Sunday and since I am such a fierce critic of what comes down the red carpet, I thought I’d give styling a try. It is SO much harder than I thought…. but I gave it a go!
I’d love to see Sandra Bullock rock out this Monique Lhuillier number with big gold/amber chandelier earrings and cocktail ring.

Carey Mulligan would look divine in this Lhuillier gown with understated, ethereal detail (paired with a bold necklace)

Anna Kendrick in Elie Saab

Penelope Cruz in Elie Saab OR Oscar de la Renta’s hot red number (sans jacket). I can’t decide.

Maggie Gyllenhaal in Naeem Khan (I adore this dress to DEATH. Ok, I adore just about everything he makes)

Director Katherine Bigelow in J.Mendel (she is so pretty and I’d want her to look bold and confident when going up against her jackass ex James Cameron- Avatar was awesome, but he’s such an ego maniac.)

This Carolina Hererra on someone like Anne Hathaway

More Monique Lhuillier- this one for Mo’ Nique (She’ll win and winners need happy color!)

Nicole Kidman would be perfect in this Alberta Ferretti number:

Zoe Saldana would kill it in this sparkly violet grey Badgley Mischka!

Melanie Laurent from Inglorious Basterds in Badgley Miscka

Marion Cotillard in this ridiculously dramtic and awesome Christian Dior.

Amy Adams in this deliciously detailed J. Mendel

Diane Kruger in Badgley Mischka

Angelina Jolie in nude Donna Karan (paired with blinding statement necklace and killer shoes).

Meryl Streep in Donna Karan (plus tons of multistrand cream pearls!)

Julianne Moore in Donna Karan (paired with big emerald green earrings)

Kate Winslet in Carolina Hererra

Helen Mirren in Naeem Khan

Sigourney Weaver in Oscar de la Renta

Halle Berry in Naeem Khan

SOMEONE in this killer Valentino???? I know- ME!

Amazing – I can se every one of those beautiful actresses in your dress picks. Good job! Now I’m super excited to see what they really pick!
Wow! Those pairings were seriously spot on! You might give Rachel Zoe a run for her money! ;) And insanely gorgeous gowns, too!
Oh, that red Oscar ballgown suggested for Penelope is like red velvet cupcakes lined on the streets of heaven! Gorgeous. Bummer, some of the photos didn’t show up on the blog :-(
And, why aren’t you a stylist to the stars?
Great pics!
Beautiful choices!!!! I can picture each lady in the dresses that you picked out! So excited to see what they wear on Sunday:)
I think you did pretty darn well, myself! My favorites being your choice for Anna Kendrick and Penelope Cruz
Great pics Erin~ you certainly have the eye for it!
Happy Oscar weekend to you…I can’t wait to pour a big glass of wine (or two) and watch it all night.
Well I’d say someone needs to hire you! Gorgeous picks! Janell
I think you’re spot on! Brava, Erin! Happy Oscar Weekend (one of my absolute favorites of the year!). Cant WAIT until Sunday night!!
It’s the most wonderful time of the year.
I took Monday morning off in honor of it.
Bravisima!! you are spot on for most, esp. the Jolie, Kidman, Moore, Streep and Cruz. Rachel Zoe should watch her back :) Happy weekend.
Oh love! Especially that first Monique Lhuillier. Maybe you should be an oscar stylist!
I love this post! You really have an eye for the personal style of all those lovely ladies! Wouldn’t be shocked to see some of those dresses on the red carpet.
Brilliant way to start the day!! I want the Amy Adams dress, now I just need a place to wear it. Happy Friday!
I died because you killed it.
These predictions are perfect! I’m just waiting for one of the stars to show up on Sunday in one of these dresses.
Wow! Those were spot on. I hope everyone looks that great.
The Naheem Khan dresses are so glam! Gorgeous. Also love the first Lhullier.
I think it was InStyle picked the Elie Saab you have here for Anna Kendrick for Vera Fermiga, I think the dress is beautiful and would look beautiful on both actresses!
I also think the colour of the J. Mendel would be gorgeous on Amy Adams, but is she still pregnant? I’m not up to date on my celeb baby births!
I love all the gowns. Great choices and spot on with your predictions!! Your post is very refreshing. have a great day. janette
Great choices Erin…..I did a similiar post but just of dresses I LOVE :)…love how you paired them with the actors! Good one for Helen and I love the second Badgley!!
Great eye! I can totally see your pic’s.
You go, Erin! Rachel Zoe has nothing on you!
Everyone’s already said it, but I could totally picture everyone in your pics. ESPECIALLY the Maggie Gyllenhall (sp?) and the Halle Berry. Well, all of them. You should move to LA and do this.
Great picks!
You go girl! As always, your Fashion Friday did not disappoint. I hope someone “important” is reading it today and gives you your lucky break!
this will be your submission to dress Brit Brit for future events!
Even I can see this is spot on. How did I ever snag you?
Dead on! Great picks!
Erin, I have enjoyed this post sooooo much! You did an amazing job, one of them should definitely hire you because some of those stylist really seem to be blind or live in a different planet sometimes man!….

Wow, you are great at this!
wow erin, you could easily snag a stylist job with these choices! i love this post, the very first dress really grabbed me! amazing gowns!
When I get nominated, I know who to call!
Tilda Swinton would also look fab in that Alberta Ferretti.
Gorgeous selection! I LOVE that J. Mendel dress. Nice job. I’m so excited about the Oscars too this weekend! Although, my mind is on all of the glamorous after-parties right now…oh, how I wish I were going. I was writing about it this morning and I felt oh-so-jealous that I wasn’t getting all glammed up to party with the stars!
Thanks for sharing your list! Awesome.
the color of that j. mendel would look incredible on amy adams. amazing job overall – so impressed!
fuckballs….you hit the nail sistuh..go and tell rachel zoe to fuck off with your badassness.
i think that top one is straight up the bees knees.
Perfect, perfect, perfect.
Girl, You are right on!!!
While it’s true that James Cameron seems or can seem arrogant – there is no bad blood between him and Katharine. Everyone knows this, even the feminist blog Jezebel.
Here’s a link:
http://jezebel.com/5451705/james-cameron–kathryn-bigelow-used-to-be-married—-get-over-it
“But for anyone searching for a storyline in a muddled year, exes facing off is as sexy of a meme as any. (As was, to a lesser extent, Nancy Meyers’ commercial success over her Alfie-creating ex-husband and former collaborator.) That’s despite all evidence that Cameron and Bigelow, who were married from 1989-1991, remain friends and that he was a booster even before he obligingly gave her props in his Golden Globes acceptance speech. As Michael Musto put it in The Village Voice on January 7,
Alas, though I’m desperate for their golden competition to turn into the most bitter battle royale since Olivia deHavilland and Joan Fontaine, there seems to be a frightening amount of good will brewing here. In fact, Cameron and Bigelow are friends (Their split was way back in 1991) and he’s even the one who advised her to direct The Hurt Locker when she was focusing on some other project!”
perfect! Much better than what will probably be on the ladies.
I love your website and this is my first comment- I have to say that I absolutely adore your oscar dress “predictions!”. That was such a best of the best collection that I feel like watching the outfits these guys actually do come up with will be a little disappointing = )
You rocked it! Thanks for that awesome post = )
I absolutely LOVE these! The only one I’m not totally on board with is Kate Winslet’s…I just can’t see her in it. The rest are right on target though! Can’t wait to see what they actually choose :)
Wow, I love your choices, they are so spot on! I can completely see Zoe Saldana & Diane Kruger in those Badgley Miscka dresses and fantastic choice for Nicole! Great post :)
Looove the Monique Lhuillier dress and Marion Cotillard would shut it down in that Dior gown.
Great choices!
For some reason, I can’t see all of the dresses (especially the one that’s your favorite!) I tried on Safari and Firefox … on a Mac. Eeek! But all of the other dresses were great, and spot-on. My only change? Even though Angelina Jolie’s beige dress was very “her” right now, I’d still prefer more color and a different look than “drapey fabric” on her. It seems like that’s all she wears to events!
After seeing this post I was left so underwhelmed with the actual red carpet stylings. Beautiful work!
I love your picks! Right on the money!
Unfortunately, I did not see this before the Oscars aired, but I am compelled to comment on the thoughtlessness of these picks. You’ve matched dresses based entirely on a style that each of these starlets have previously worn on the red carpet – how boring?! I’m a huge fan of your blog and your style ideas, but I thought this post fell short; in the name of style, it was too safe and lacked creative insight. While undoubtedly classy and pretty, if these looks showed up on the red carpet as you suggested, it would’ve triggered quite a yawn on Oscar night (with an exception of your pick for Sandra Bullock, I think that would’ve been an excellent trade).
I actually loved a lot of your picks, and I want to give it a try next year:) Thanks for a fun post (even though I didnt get to see it before). Oh and I think a few of your picks were very close to what some of the acresses did in fact wear. Good job. I cant remember who, but someone did wear that J Mendel dress. I also loved your pick for Jolie and Mirrem. Fun stuff.
