The Spring 2010 collections clearly show that military inspired styles, particularly jackets, are going to be BIG. And I mean BIG. It can be tough to picture rockin’ a military jacket if you instinctively feel like you are going to look like a total poser in one. So I put together two looks, one for colder temperatures, and one for the warm breezes of spring to show you how you can wear it without looking like you were given marching orders.
NOW
THEN
A few jackets that won’t break the bank and allow you to try this trend without feeling like you’ve committed too much to it. Because you know next spring this style will be on all the “Don’t” lists. (CLICK pic for link)
A few shots from the runways- everyone was showing military styles, from Balmain to Louis Vuitton.

I can get into this trend for spring for sure. The first jacket is great and I love the first runway shot. Cool post!
Love it, love these jackets, they are so versatile and go with everything
Have a nice weekend
didnt think I would be into this trend, but love the outfits you put together. maybe I will give it go.
Love these jackets and I have been looking at them for a while searching for the perfect one that won’t break the bank. Gap and Madewell have their one military style jackets too and they are pretty nice. I am sure by spring all stores will be carrying the military jacket. Great post! Have a great weekend!
Love this look!
I’ve had two military jackets that I have been wearing regularly for the past 5 years. I dont think this one will ever go out of style!!!
Great looks; I love when you put outfits together!
FYI- three of your links aren’t working.
I love the looks that you put together, I will have to get a jacket like this for myself.

Ooh, I got mine at forever 21 for like 20 bucks and I love it.
Wearing it now, actually. It’s pretty lightweight with cute collar and optional sinched waist.
Have a shirt from Boden that’s almost identical to the cashmere striped shit (but, of course, not cashmere). P.S. First time leaving a comment and just want to say that I LOVE this Blog — and have turned many onto it as well. Please keep doing what you’re doing, Erin!
P.S.S. Forgot to mention that Boden shirt is only $38.
I’m obsessed with the ‘now’ outfit.. so wish I was wearing that to dinner tonight! Thanks Erin for the inspiration!
Wish spring were here already! Love those chain necklaces!
I find that the military look can tend to look a bit too masculine or androgynous if you’re not careful with it. I have a linen military-style jacket, and whenever I wear it I make sure to balance it with a feminine skirt and enough jewelry to make it work and not look like I”m wearing a “uniform”.
I didn’t think I would like the military look but I sure do the way you have styled them. I would wear version 1 and 2.
I love these posts! Another great one, thanks!!
As a collector of designer handbags, I really like it.
love the nautical stripes!!
Love the “Now” look! Went to Gap and bought their jacket – great because the sleeves are long enough and can also be rolled up and kept that way with a great tab that snaps. Also, found a great similar nautical stripe top in cotton at Ann Taylor Loft for $37.50. (Saw it in the latest “Real Simple” magazine.) Plan to wear both with my Frye Melissa boots and JBrand jeans in L.A. this weekend….
