I was in Ann Taylor the other day and spotted this amazing, very “un-Ann Taylor” dress in the store (looks WAY better in person- hate it with black tights). It’s so mod, so fashion forward in it’s bright yellow and nude color scheme and exposed zipper up the back. It looks a lot like what is coming down the Balenciaga runway for Spring 2010 . It got me thinking about bold yellow accents for spring (such thinking helps lift me out of my winter blue doldrums). It’s gonna be the pop of color in my new office (I think) and a big trend for both home and fashion. I especially love it in the home when paired with grey, black and white!

I do! My skin has slight yellow undertones and I just wore a yellow dress on NYE! I think a deeper yellow works best, not pastel-y yellow!
I can’t wear yellow near my face (it makes me look sickly). So I shy away from it in clothes and paint. But I love the color. I’ll get my dose with colorful accessories this spring! Just the perfect way to forget about the frigid temperatures!

This is such a great post and so inspiring. I have been thnking about incorporating yellow accents in my living room and now I ma definitely doing it. I also love wearing yellow, especially in the spring and summer. I agree with you that the deep yellow is a very good color for brunettes :)
As far as room inspirations, one of my all time favorite living rooms — the one in Jenna Lyons’ apartment– is a great example of mixing yellow with grey, black and white. Love that room!!!!
I love yellow, so I’m thrilled to see this post! I recently updated my living room with yellow and purple accents – an enlivening combo. I guess it’s the whole ‘opposites on the color wheel’ thing working.

I LOVE yellow and have it in my entryway right now. We have greige walls with two yellow horizontal stripes (one about 5 inches tall, one about .75 inch tall) that wrap around the foyer. At first we tried painting the entire nook yellow, and it was waaay too much, but I love it paired with a calmer neutral. And, in fashion, I think yellow is the new orange. It’s that color that 99% of people think they will look terrible in, until they find the right shade!

Oh yellow… it is my favorite. I featured the same West Elm products today! They’re gorgeous. AND my home office is going to be yellow, black, and grey. Yes. I am taking a risk and doing a black wall. But just one. Baby steps. And speaking of yellow – I LOVE the dress you’re wearing in your picture in the left-hand column. Where is that from??
