I have had this room saved on my computer for months. I’ve loved it and looked at it several times. I think it’s at once calming, bold, graphic, organized but with personality. I wanted to try to recreate a similar look on a budget, so here are my picks:
An indoor/outdoor geometric rug from Grandin Road:

I found some affordable orange drapes on a kids decor site- I’d cut off the tabs and sew on rings instead:

A nice modern, clean lined oval coffee table:

The Petrie Sofa from Crate & Barrel would be perfect:
A fabulous bronze floor lamp and black throw pillows:

Hang a series of black and white framed portrait photographs, like this one I found on Art.com of Elizabeth Taylor that I love. Pick a few and have them printed the same size and frames identically.

A grouping of sleek white vases looks great on top of a dining table instead of a centerpiece. Collect them individually or purchase a whole set (this set isn’t cheap, but it was too beautiful not to post!)

love the post, erin! i was just thinking that the salong vases at ikea could also be an inexpensive alternative to the sleek, white pricey vases collection that you posted! they are really pretty in person! xo

Gorgeous room, and yes, you knocked it out with the recreation!
Erin, I LOVE that bronze floor lamp. MustHaveNow!!!!!!! Great find!
Yum, love gray with orange. Nice contrast of the simple with the geometric rug. Great picks!
Love this! I’m checking out that rug site… is there any reason not to use an “outdoor” rug inside?
I fell in love with this room the first time I saw it – I love the colours, the banquette in the eating area, the rug…just about everything!
Great post.
Love your Look for Less entry! I can’t wait to see more! Can you do a look for less on dinning room chairs? They are so expensive.
I’m a Steven Gambrel fan too!!! I actually just included this same room in a recent post also…love it!
Awesome options for a lower budget!
SO lovely!! thanks for sharing! p.s. will you be treatign us to a SAG fashion recap?!? i hope so! i for one was much more please with the SAGs than the Globes. would love to read your observations …
Could that rug be used with a black and white damask drape? Or would it be too muddy in contrast? What do you all think?
I adore the rug you found Erin, it’s too good…. My personal opinion on the orange curtains is that they are one of the most important elements in this room, they make it work. The pop of color is what adds the vibrant feel this room has. I love them.
LOVE it!
Fantastic! Love the room and thanks for turning us on to Art.com…what a great source. I’m digging through their selection of Audrey Hepburn prints right now!
great inspiration, love the rug and the liz taylor print! I think she looks stunning!
That is perhaps the most beautiful picture I’ve seen on Elizabeth Taylor. No wonder she had 7 husbands – she was a stunner!
That rug is also pretty fabulous.
Love that rug with the orange – great combo! KG
Love the pottery
Love this room and looooove the outdoor rug you found.
That shade of gray is just divine too.
I absolutely loved the room and I also loved the items you chose to create the look. I would love to create a look like that and you make it easy for us. Thanks for all the hard work
