When I saw these pictures of Mary McDonald’s holiday decorations in her Beverly Hills home I fell in love with the blue-grey, cream and green color combination glammed up with shots of gold and crystal. I immediately thought “Could I turn this into a festive holiday outfit?”

I gave it a go, and went a bit out of my comfort zone and combined a casual, traditional menswear inspired blue button down with an uber-feminine sequined mini. Add in some sparkly gold and crystal accents (playing off the chandelier and mirror) and top it off with a cream classic wool coat and you’ve got a preppy-luxe outfit that will have party goers impressed with your ability to mix and match.

I LOVE this outfit. What a great eye you have! Have a great weekend.
I like it, have a cream coat, top, tights, & shoes so I need that skirt!
Amazing- love the room and your look! :)
Erin, this is beautiful! What a sophisticated color palate, and you can never go wrong with nature-inspired combinations.
Inspiration for fashion comes from everywhere and anything, the connection between interior design and outfit-design is so natural.
absolutely fabulous.
I love that sequin skirt! But more importantly the dining room chairs! I just bought and painted dining chairs I bought on Craiglist and the color looks VERY close to that grey. I wasn’t sure how I liked it, but now that I see this, I’m confident it will look good once I move them into my new place. Yay!
Cheers,
Alaina
OMG – You’re so good! I love the outfit and it’s the perfect reflection of the interior.

That room is insane! And you did the perfect job outfitting it. Very clever indeed!
Fabulous outfit and I love the room too. Do you have the name of the wall color? I’ve been thinking about a deep blue/grey for my dining room.
