Fashion Friday: Jimmy Choo for H&M

So many high end designers are doing lines for affordable retailers these days- probably due to this economic crisis cutting into their luxury goods profit margin. Hey, something good has to come out of this mess, and if it’s Jimmy Choo doing a line for H&M, so be it! Launching November 14th at selected stores nationwide, you can be the proud owner of a pair of Choo heels for 1/4 of the price of real ones- and I’m going to venture a guess that they’ll still be made well from seeing how properly crafted my four new pairs of Target shoes are (Target brought it’s A game this fall with shoes).

So here are some images of the line- I’m mostly loving the shoes and jewelry- the clothing and bags fall a little short in my opinion. Some of it t looks a little Mary Kate Olsen on one of her weird bag lady days. The question is- am I going to go get in line early on November 14th to have a shot in hell of snagging a pair of shoes? Jury’s still out….

The black studded heels on the right would be what I would run for first-FYI.

Second in line would be these black heels and this adorable zebra clutch. It has my name all over it.

Really loving this earring and bracelet pairing- I think it would be unexpectedly stunning with a chic black dress.

The items from the clothing line I like are below- I love the one shouldered suede dress- paired with textured tights and booties it would be FAB.

What are your thoughts on this line? Will you go check it out?

  1. So much H & M fabulousness. I feel very slighted though as we have not one of their wonderful stores in Houston. To own a pair of those JC’s (the grey suede #’s would do) would be divine!
Great post & I’ll keep dreaming Xx

YAY! I love JC and these prices are amazing! I want the same ones you’re going for!!

  3. Brandie says:

    Totally the studded heel!!

  4. Sarah says:

I love the shoes so much. I really wish there was an H&M here in Charlotte. Sigh… maybe Ebay.

  5. I like the clutch. Otherwise it’s a little too sex worker-ish for me.

Erin, these are lovely shoes and I would love to get some for myself too but I will have to break the bad news to you – not only you have to wait in line for these but you have to wait in line in NYC since there are only a few stores in the USA that are going to have this collection (mostly LA and NYC, no luck for us Bostonians). I checked the info on their website and it sounds crazy – they will be giving 160 bracelets to the first in line and only these people will be allowed in store to shop the collection. H&M expects huge lines since the launch is on a Saturday morning. I think there will be sleeping overnight there. Even though these shoes are gorgeous I don’t think they are worth me freezing my but off :)

H&M is my fave…it’s the only clothing store here in Europe (or at least in my small Austrian city) that sells affordable and cute clothes. And unlike the US, there are a million of them here. Unfortunatelly, heels aren’t so practical here! And, yes, the designer stuff goes quickly…and then a lot of people have it. Oh well, stilll gonna check it out. Thanks for the update. If you need anything, maybe I can find it here and ship it to you.

Although I have crushes on quite a few of the items that Jimmy Choo is debuting at H&M, I am slightly disappointed in their once again only releasing them in New York and LA. Oh and the fact that it appears that the largest size that any of the shoes will be produced in is a size 9. All my girlfriends and I wear size 10 so this is quite disheartening.

I can only assume H&M is instituting the bracelet policy because of past nightmares regarding these designer sales.

My girlfriends and I went to New York City and waited overnight for the Roberto Cavalli for H&M release a few years ago. We slept in our car in front of the store and got out and into line the minute people showed up to get in line – it was quite only about 30 degrees. After waiting in line from 7:00 am until the store opened (did I mention we slept in the car) at 11:00. Once they opened the doors MAYHEM ensued. Every Roberto Cavalli item in the store was gone from all the t-stands and shelves in literally 90 seconds. I quickly realized that people weren’t looking for just their size and moving on but instead were basically grabbing whole sections of clothing and throwing them over their arms only to trade items later in the dressing room. SO I joined in…because I figured I needed to have something to try on. After I had grabbed about 10 pairs of jeans I heard a big crash and I looked up to see someone (not an employee) stripping the mannequin of the dress it was wearing.

My friends and I had all dispersed when we ran into the store – one girl to accessories to grab us some highly coveted jewelry, one girl to a specific t-stand for a zebra dress, me to a different shelf for a gold sweater. I really wanted th bustier but they didn’t have it in this store at all. People were screaming and fighting and a woman with a babycarriage had clothes piled high on top of the carriage while her terrified baby cried over the sheer comotion.

I found my one girlfriend sitting under the stairs, virtually shaking because she was the first person to get to the accessories – there were only 6 rings and 6 necklaces, she had grabbed 4 of each (one for each of us and one for a girl we friended in line) and women were attacking her for them – trying to pull the bags out of her hands. While I was in the dressing room, two women stood outside of my stall and banged on my door yelling – “Do you like that dress, are you going to keep it – can I have it” and on an on it goes. The employees were fighting with the customers trying to maintain and establish order but it was was far too late at this point.

A girl called me a SELFISH B*TCH, with tears streaming down her face, because I wouldn’t give her my one ring and my one necklace. She was whining about how she had driven all the way from New Jersey and had waiting in line for almost 1/2 hour to get in the store. I promptly told her that I had driven from Boston, slept in my car and had waited 4 hours in 30 degree weather, had no shower, had not brushed my teeth, etc…and she said – “IT IS NOT FAIR and you are really selfish to not give me one of your pieces of jewelry. Umm OK – life isn’t fair expecially in Fashion

The whole experience was like being in an alternative universe and SUPER stressful, I felt like I had run a maration by the time I cashed out, but I must say I get a little rush everytime I wear one of the fabulous pieces I purchased that day.

Hopefully the bracelet system will help with those issues and I am a little sad I won’t own any Jimmy Choo for H&M pieces but there is always the next designer!

  9. Donna says:

Love it…do they have any in NAVY…I need some heels in navy that are not matronly…but chic:)

  10. beth gales says:

    That necklace is stunning!

  11. Averill says:

Hmmm…I’ll take the zebra clutch and the black studded flats, please!

  12. This is a crazy store.. I just feel lucky to HAVE an H & M in Seattle! :)

  13. Jaime @ DOXA says:

LOL, Melissa’s story is soooooo true! And unfortunately, I do not believe the sell online. We actually do not have one in Tampa…what a pity. The collection is great, I love the one shouldered gray leather dress….hot!

  14. Erin Gates says:

Wow Melissa! What a story! I am totally not going to go- it’s too bad they make so few of these things- i thought the point was to turn a profit???
