Faux Fur Love

I am in search of the perfect faux fur vest for fall/winter a la Rachel Zoe.  She even has her own design for QVC that I might investigate seeing as it must be fabulous if she put her name on it I am pissed I missed out on b/c it’s now SOLD OUT. Grrrr.

However, while at my photo shoot yesterday at the Webster showroom at the BDC, there was this MAGNIFICENT faux fur throw that sent me into a bit of a giddy spell. It was perfection, and way out of my budget, but I insisted we find a place for it in a shot or two- despite the photographers obvious dislike of it. Hello, it’s me– pile on the faux fur and zebra!

Anyways, now I am obsessed with finding a gorgeous faux fur throw for my new “neutral” space I hope to create (remember, I’m on a neutral kick).  Fur ads such a great texture to a room when combined with sleek metals, glass, linens, leathers and such. Just look at these spaces with (hopefully faux) fur throws… yummy, right? Especially the first one with my other obsession-black walls!

Picture 45 This one is a close second and more realistic since it’s so much cheaper!

Picture 47 Pottery Barn even has a few to chose from!

Picture 48 This light lynx throw is pretty subtle and lovely too

Thanks to a reader tip, Z Gallerie has two gorgeous ones as well for under $100!

How I wish I had one to cozy up with right now!

  1. totally random and not related to this post, but I noticed that in some old images of your living room you had a brown and white zig zag rug. I have been looking for the exact same thing in black and white to no avail. Is this Madeline Weinrib or did you find a less expensive option elsewhere? Thanks!

  2. I so want the white Pottery Barn one. I even did a post about it a few days ago, as well! But they are definitely pricey. I wonder how they wear… whether it will last more than a year or two. If so, I might just take the plunge. Does anyone own one that can give their opinion?

  3. I love the idea of using the furry throws. I am really drawn to the living room with cozy fireplace and warm throw over back of sofa. It get really cold here in Massachusetts and I would love to replicate that room and scene. Love your blog! Jamilyn

  4. I saw some great faux fur throws at Costco. I am in California not sure if they have it online. They were only $40. After your post I might be heading back to get one or two! Are all faux furs dry clean only? With two babies and a dog that might not be the most practical for me!

  5. I have 3 from Pottery Barn and LOVE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!! And they wear extremely well – they actually get better the older they get. My only issue with them is that they need to be a bit longer but other than that, I highly recommend them! AND one year I bought fur euro shams from PB on the C.H.E.A.P. and one of the best purchases I have ever made – got them @ the end of the season and could not be happier. Love the new look of your blog!

  6. Take a look at the Dennis Basso throws on QVC – H07774. I have two of them and they are great. Also take a look a the BB Dakota faux fur vest on fredflare.com – very Rachel Zoe.

  7. as a former buyer for PB, i have to endorse their faux fur blankets! they were my favorite gift to give each christmas (expecially with my discount!!) and the best part is that they come in different sizes so i’m pretty sure you can get the little one for $99? they are sooooo soft and cozy!

  8. I have a faux mink throw on the foot of my bed and I adore it! I love the natural element and texture that it adds to the room. Great Post!

  9. Ooo! Love it! What was your photoshoot? Were they photographing you for something? Or were you styling the shoot? Love the pictures!

  10. Yep. Faux fur vests are in stock at Target NOW. I was at the new one in Hanover, MA last night! Cropped and longer styles – snow white and medium brown. You’ll be a rock star!

  11. A little off subject, but we stayed at the Nine Zero Hotel on Tremont Street a few weeks ago and our beds had fur throws on them. LOVE! (Also– we used your excellent Guide to Boston and had an delicious meal at the Butcher Shop. Thanks Erin, your guide is the best.)
