For the Love of Lotus

This weekend I bought a stunning set of lotus nesting bowls for my best friend’s bridal shower gift from Boston’s Koo de Kir. I am obsessed, as it’s as stunning for serving as it is sitting on a table unused. The perfect shower gift, I might even declare!
I am quite enamored with the lotus blossom as a symbol. It means different things to different religions and parts of the world but the interpretation I like is rebirth, strength of spirit and beauty through life’s hardships. Who can’t identify with that in some way? There are lotus blossoms blooming everywhere, from fashion to hoem decor- here are a few examples:

Check out this amazing lotus themed line by Satya Jewelry (this first necklace makes me weak in the knees as it’s my birthstone, the lotus AND the goddess Lakshmi (of prosperity and abundance). Sign me up!

These cuffs are equally amazing, no?

I just put this lotus flower capiz shell light in a project of mine and I’m pretty sure I need to order one for myself ASAP.

Or how about Farrow and Ball’s Lotus wallcovering? It’s a new favorite in my book!
Amy Butler has a whole line of lotus print fabrics as well, and they are all VERY affordable!

These lotus pendants are a long time favorite of mine- perhaps in a bathroom hanging on the sides of a mirror in place of sconces?

I’m off to the Cape for said bridal shower (the bowls)- have a great day!

I love both Koo de Kir and the nesting bowls. I had a habit of getting a meringue and coffee at the patisserie on Charles and wandering over to her shop. It is the little things I miss about Boston… oh yes, the lotus', lovely!

This post couldn't have come at a pefect time….I love all things lotus and even my father's former company was called Lotus Group. Thinking of starting my own very small interior design biz and using the name…you just gave me the extra push and inspiration to do it. Lovely items you posted about….must get that chandelier too!

I have been dreaming about that lotus pendant from Target online for about a year. I LOVE it. and if you have the pleasure of seeing the movie, the Proposal, you can see them in the barn during the wedding, I actually gasped outloud in the theatre.

Ah, so funny – my newlywed boston gal's received those bowls from koo de kir too. They love them! I have sold a few of the JY lotus pendants to clients as well but we don't stock them in the store. I always shy way from "trendy" pieces but they are really beautiful.
