A Textured Paring in CT

photos by John Gruen

When I saw this image in Westchester Cottages & Gardens I stopped dead in my tracks. “Is that grain sack on a lucite chair??” I thought… What an odd pairing, and yet so successful! Sitting next to the natty branch table and under a more modern sleek drum pendant, it all works so well, yet looks so interesting. I love when textures and styles are mixed like this, it adds so much to space and gives it character.
They did a similar thing in the bedroom, pairinga lovely tailored, more traditional bed with lucite stools- the effect is serene yet slighty funky. I love it!

Love!! I have been on the hunt for a lucite bench/ stools for the foot of my bed too. I am having a hard time finding an affordable option though. Is lucite furniture a requisite splurge item, or are there good deals to be found?

I just about have my client talked into lucite chairs for her dining room – I want a rustic table for her too, but painted in black. I think this photo will definitely help to convince her!

I don’t know who manufactures the benches but I know you can buy them from Artistic Upholstery in Norwalk, CT (ask for Andy)- they actually make them for Dovecote in Westport, CT (GORGEOUS stuff). Hope this helps!
