Paint Inspiration

I got an e-mail last night announcing Benjamin Moore’s 2009 “Colors for Your Home” part of their site and really loved this living room image (go to the site link above for a better view- I am having pic size issues!). Black walls are so hip these days but talk about a daunting color choiceI Even I would have trouble putting a brush to the wall covered in black paint! Typically I do not like “accent walls”, but this one really works. I am loving the black surrounding the fireplace (makes that mantle and artwork really pop) and the other colors that play off it- the icy blue remaining walls and chartreuse in the office (brought in with accessories to the living area). I also love the mix of traditional and modern furnishings- this is a great example of how to do that well.

In the dining room they did the opposite and used black liberally, but I love it- romantic and dramatic with the bright drapes and the ceiling painted a color (not shown). Again I am loving the traditional table mixed with a very modern light fixture and chairs.

Who knew you could find decoration inspiration on a paint website? :)

I love black walls. Mu Aunt and Uncle have always had a black living room. It is so sophisticated yet cozy as well. Then again, they live in a 100+ year old home with 15+ft ceilings, so it can really take the drama.

I’m getting ready to repaint the kitchen and am so excited to use Aura paint this time around. Supposed to be the best. We’ll see.

    hi Erin,
I was wondering what paint color you used in your living room? We are moving into a new home and I am trying to decide whether to use a color like Benjamin Moore's Crown Point Sand (beige with green undertones) in the new house or a more gray-ish beige. I love how your paint color looks so fresh…
