Design Crush: Amanda Nisbet

When I grow up I want to be like Amanda Nisbet. What wonderful design talent she has! I love her bold color choices, yet ability to do a subtle, restrained look as well. Above all, her spaces look like FUN, which is something I so agree needs to be a key element in design. You want your home to make you smile right? Well any of these spaces would certainly put a smile on my face!

Love the nail head and trim headboard in this bedroom below

This space just looks like sweet dreams, no?

The bathroom below left is a longtime fave of mine, and the sophisticated girl’s room right is something any teen could grow into and love!

This porch is really an outdoor living room and I absolutely gasped when I saw it- it is amazing. I have a client that I think will gasp at this as well! :)

throwing some modern art on the wall in an otherwise traditionally decorated home gives an unexpected kick of high design to a space. And those deep blue walls would be so perfect in a den or media room!

I think purple and yellow are going to be big this year- these two bedrooms have just the right punch of color (and that chandy is to die for)

Loving the glossy black faux bamboo bed on the left, and the deep indigo walls paired with a rich orange and lanterns at right.

Another dreamy bedroom…

Fantastic uses of red below- I love how the couch fits snugly into the built ins below left, and the use of the large Oly pendant lights above the island- oh, and those killer vintage lucite stools!

This entry below left is simple and stunning- running striped wallpaper in a horizontal direction mixes things up nicely. The banquette seating below right is ideal for family style dinners (and loving the silhouettes in bright colors!)

Do you have a crush now too? :)

oh my, i am crushing big time! it’s beyond lovely.

i am helping a friend to a home re.do and i am looking for a narrow coffee table like that one on the porch. any ideas?

    1) The avocado green she used on the walls in the living room look strikingly similar to the new color in your office!

    2) The beige-and-orange home office here is phenomenally done. The vintage horse racing posters are a nice touch.

    3) My favorite is by far the purple, bead-board ceiling in the sunroom. Very original (or maybe not, I don’t really know!).

These are beyond crush worthy — I want to marry those Oly pendant lights. Do you know of something similar that doesn’t cost $2,700 each?

Well I have fallen for Amanda hook, line and sinker. I love that she is not afriad of color and she does it so well.

I’m in love with green so I love her use of it.

Truth be told I loved all of the rooms that you showed.

Too funny you posted this, I was just looking up the show house she did in Traditional Home to post about it because I fell in love with more of her work!

Love the green and grey living room. Thinking that scheme would work in my bedroom. And adore the violet wallpaper in the bathroom. I actually featured it in a design piece for the Boston Globe magazine last year. A friend/designer suggested it – for a bathroom.

I love that little office with the picture hanging close to the floor. I never thought of that and it looks great! (With another one of the same size hanging above it of course. =) )

I am in love with her boldness in color. I love color and seem to hold back a bit. Great inspiration, will add her to my “go to” for inspiration.

Swooning over the colours! Any chance we can find out more about the light beige/blue abstract art piece above the lucite table in the seating area picture next to the bedroom?
