Some women have the bride gene- others, like me, have a whole other set of chromosomes dedicated to all things bridal. I love weddings- LOVE (you probably know this by now). When I was looking for a dress I felt such immense pressure because this was my one wedding gown. This was it. Did I want to be a princess bride, sexy bride, simple bride, classic bride, hip bride, couture bride… I felt like the dress was going to represent who I was as a person on the biggest day of my life. Oy. I wish I had taken a more zen approach to the whole process and avoided all the tears that came along with it. Had J.Crew been maing wedding gowns then perhaps I could have just bypassed all the drama.
I saw this dress below left in the new catalog and shrieked! I love it- slight ruffles, sleek silhouette, waist detail…. *sigh* Below right is what i think I would wear now if I were to do it again (on a beach, barefoot)-hair in a low messy bun with one big white bloom tucked in- the cap sleeves charm me and it’s simple, yet there is a hint of sexiness in the drape. Oh, and did I mention both are under $800?
Who would not want their wedding aprty to look like these pictures? The below right picture is a fabulous way to dress bridesmaids- in varying shades of one color AND various silhouettes!

And for your enjoyment- more eye candy from the new J.Crew catalog- yummy.
Happy Friday!

i am slightly obsessed with j.crew. i just love it. when i saw that fourth wedding dress it made me want to get married again. (to the same man of course)
i shrieked over that ruffle gown too last night on the couch as i flipped through the j crew holiday catalog. it’s magnificent (and so is the price!).
totally off topic….
i love the posts you’ve written about christmas decoration. it seems like there’s a total void of resources for modern christmas inspiration, but your posts are spot on!
J.Crew is rocking it with the wedding gowns. I used J.Crew bridesmaid dresses for our wedding so that my girls could REALLY wear their dresses again. I just said “I like navy blue” and they picked whatever dress they wanted. So much easier than the $400 Veras and $150 alterations, especially in this economy.
I adore both top dresses and the ecru sheath!
why, why does j crew have to be so perfect. the styling of those catalogs are so dead on. must wait for sales though.
I have a soft spot in my heart for J.Crew. I wonder if there is a J.Crew Maternity in the plans ever. And I have to say, a shout out to Jenna Lyons as I think she is why I really love J.Crew these days……
i’m totally with you. chromosomes abound! great post AND you’ve shown me what I’ll be wearing on new year’s eve, so thanks!!! (silver sparkly top with some skinny jeans and heals!)
They had a wedding dress a few years ago that was absolutely stunning, and I’m not a big fan of lace. I can still see it in the window at their store in Rock Center. I heart J. Crew.
J.Crew has definitely got it goin’ on! The new catalog is stunning…and J. Crew Collection..to die for!! :)
I love your Fashion Friday posts and beautiful fashion candy images that you always include! Those J. Crew wedding dresses are gorgeous.
I got married this summer and was way lower-key about it than I thought I’d be. I wore an off-the-rack Amsale dress that needed minimal tailoring and my bridesmaids got their dresses at J.Crew. I got married outside on the grounds of a renovated barn, though, so the mood was what I called “barn chic”. :)
Keep up the great posts!

Oh yes, I am having a J.Crew obsession right now as well…
Borderline crazy obsessed with the whole wedding thing…that is why I LOVE YOU. Me crazy too.
I am in love with jcrew right now!
I’m always back and forth with J Crew designs, but I agree, this new catalog was great! I wanted everything…
On another note, I have a black and white houndstooth print couch and I’m shopping for a new rug. I’m struggling trying to decide what direction to go… Any suggestions? We have eclectic style. I mix antiques with modern pieces, so really, we could go several directions. Help!
