Leigh Pennebaker Sculptures

I came across Leigh Pennebaker’s work yesterday after she left a comment on another post. She is a second generation artist (along with her husband) and creates sculptures of gowns and dresses out of wire. Her collection consists of life size works (above) and miniature works (below). Any of these could be excellent additions to a modern interior- a small work floating on a console table, a life size one the feature of some celebrity’s massive walk in closet?

Her work has been featured in window displays for Saks Fifth Avenue, Barneys and Bergdorfs, to name a few. This would have been useful for the Top Design kids who created those heinous window displays on last week’s show!

She also was commissioned to make a custom wire chandelier for the flagship Saks Fifth Avenue Store. Jane of all trades!

i’ve loved dress forms since forever, and i love, love, LOVE that these take it to the next step by making it a sculptural statement all on it’s own. I decided I wanted to purchase a form after I saw one in a picture of Denise Richards’ powder room http://popsugar.com/gallery/566749 (currently my dream bathroom and now on the market too!) but I may have to rethink that now that I’ve seen something even MORE aesthetically pleasing. gorgeous!
