Another lust-worthy home from Living Etc., the UK’s best shelter mag, in my humble opinion. This is the vacation home of a crafty couple in St. Barth’s. Try not to die of jealousy. The open airy feeling of white walls and ceilings (left open with exposed beams) combined with darker furniture and natural elements make this space incredibly successful.

To get the look, bunch a grouping of hurricanes, like these from IKEA on the center of a long table. For pillows like this, but simple linen covered throw pillows and use fabric paint to stencil on numbers.

The kitchen pendants above are fabulous- you can try using the 24″ diameter Leran pendant from IKEA and stain it darker. A glossy black vase from Walmart and a black and white stripe flatweave runner from Pottery Barn will dot he trick.

Use sets of framed mirrors to create a dramatic wall piece. These black framed mirrors are only $75 for a set of three. Using a bed with rattan detailing ads to the natural feeling of the space, but it doesn’t have to cost you an arm and leg. This one below is from JCPenney. Add a
netting canopy and you’ve got a tropical bedroom to relax in!

Two things
1) Have you seen the photos of Jake G lately for his new movie? I know you’re a fan.

2) Melissa C. Morris does a blog. She recently went to the Nine Zero Hotel in Boston. There are a few photos of the interior.

Gosh this is a great home. And an even greater location. What a cool couple and they have smokin’ taste!
I like your DIY tips too :)
HHL- yes I’ve been to Nine Zero- I was actually really disappointed in the room decor (the one I saw). It is chic, but the XV Beacon and Liberty are designed so much better. However, Nine Zero does give KILLER Mario Russo toiletries!!
I love the bed at the bottom there. Is the headboard brown wicker?
Thanks for all the great tips! now, where do get a house like that? LOL!! Sigh.. i know… St. Barths!!! I could do all the interior stuff…but without that view and those ceilings etc…it would be all for naught!!!
Still, great post, great pics!!!!great house!
Its so funny that you picked that bed out Erin…Thats the one I have in my master bedroom. It is GREAT quality (I was nervous at first waiting for a JCPenny bed)and the dark mahogany color is rich and beautiful. The headboard is a stiff caning (for the reader that inquried) so you can prop pillows up on it easily without worry. The bed does run a little long which is good if you have a fluffy comforter but you need something a little bulkier (I only had a coverlet and had to bulk it up.) The price was unbeatable for what I got (around $550 for bed PLUS SHIPPING!!) Anyway, thanks for the bed nod! Leigh…south carolina
Leigh! I always love a good, non-biased review of products I pick!! :)
This house is so great! I specially love the kitchen and the sitting-room dark wardrobes with the painted flowers. So tropical! Thanks for your blog, it’s great!
so dreamy!
Living Etc. is one of my favorite magazines. Always find such wonderful ideas there. Beautiful home, thanks for sharing!
Oh wow! This house is beautiful! I love the cane light shades over the kitchen bench! Beautiful!
